88 turbo need help!

Just finished my swap put on all stock tdi bypass valve started rite up idled good drove it about 2 mi then the motor started to cut out. When o floor it it revs up to about 2k then drops on and on all the way home need some advice. Think it's a vac leak but then it should of started out running like shit. Also. My coolant temp jumps up to hot Instantly even when it's cold I rerouted the wires like everyone said ( x15 to x16) bla bla ang help would be great.

Did a s4 turbo swap in an 88 vert used the turbo harness. Ya I know but it seemed easier. Motor is a American turbo. All parts are stock.

Ok now it's running fine. Let it cool down then started up fine.

Will not having the boost sensor plugged in (waiting for my n318) make it cut out at about 4-5k rpms?

Are you in boost at those rpms? If you dont have the boost sensor plugged in, there is no way for the ecu to know the fuel requirements and etc... My guess is yes, but I can't say that for sure.

That is what I thought I guess I won't boost until I have my sensor in

i don't know a whole lot about turbo swaps, but if you were using the turbo harness then why would you need to switch pins around?

N/A ecu ?

because the main harness inside the car is not pinned properly for a turbo swap.

Yes IRS my na ecu but its the covertible ecu which will run turbos.

Get you a turbo II ecu. Im not sure about the convertible ecus, but I was under the impression no N/A ecu can read boost.

Yea the convertible ecu has the boost sensor just like the turbo ecu. It us only the verts that came with them don't know why but I researched it before I did my swap and I don't need a turbo ecu
