88 Turbo II Engine Rebuild
I bought the car about a year ago from a guy in Houston with a blown motor. There were plenty of bonuses on the car that made it worth the price despite the wonderful paint job... Since then Ive been collecting parts and saving money for the build. I was able to finish the engine over the break and hopefully will have the engine in the car by friday. Thought you guys might like to check out some pics of the car and the build:

how hard did you find the rebuild to be? was this your first one? what did you use as a guide

It was more time consuming and tedious than anything-but a whole lot of fun. It was my first rotary build using the Rotary Aviation kit and rebuild video. The video was well done and well see about the kit...

Old school rims! -Ted |
Those were deffinitely what closed the deal. The guy had the cars in the Thrifty Nickel with no pics of course. Drove to Houston with nothing more than "You'll like what you see." and I guess the guy was right. Deffinitely a surprise to drive up and see some classy rims on the car-other perks were HKS intake and exhaust and an ARC BOV the guy got from Japan. Not bad for 1500$ with another blown short block with the rotors and housings I needed.

that was a way good deal!

that was an awesome deal. i ended up paying 1000 for my TII and it didnt come all that extra stuff. just the car wit the blown engine.

I guess the guy was tryin to get rid of it. He practically had an RX-7 graveyard in his front and back yards. He was selling two other TIIs for parts which I would have bought for a couple hundred each but didnt have the means in gettin em back to SA. Ive had to throw quite a bit of money at it but that goes without saying but will deffinitely be worth it. I just got my s5 turbo and manny today and some other goodies are on the way so it should be interesting.

Nice find, man. Way to build it yourself!

Thanks. It might have turned out cheaper and faster to have it rebuilt but I deffinitely wouldnt sacrifice the learning experience for either of those. I knew quite a bit about the car and the engine but I cant even compare what I knew then and what I know now. Its deffinitely not something I would recommend to everyone but if you have the means and ability to do so it is much more rewarding to do the build yourself.
