88 t2 switching valve bad

Im into my rebuild and i see that the swithing valve rod is bad in the manifold. enough to leak exhaust. I have read many links and post about doing away with it. Is there any way to replace the rod seals? Would be putting a s5 manifold on a better choice and if so do i need to do anything with the twin scroll set up?

I don't know if anyone's replaced the seal around the flapper arm, but it would be best to keep the system functional. It's there to help spool the turbo at low RPMs (sub 2700 RPM). I actually have an S4 exhaust manifold sitting around that I could sell you. PM me if interested.

An S5 manifold will require an S5 turbo (or at least the S5 turbine housing), but it is a better design, and will help spool even more. The twin scroll solenoid can just be unplugged and capped if you go this route.
