'88 Rx7

Hey all, I'm new to the whole RX7 scene and I just had a question. I have been doing research on the rotary engine but I can't seem to figure out..... how does oil travel through and lubricate the engine. I have searched for this info but as I am sure all of you know, it takes a long time to go through everything in a forum. I just recently got myself an '88 RX7 N/A. It has some engine problems right now but I'll be getting around to that some other time. Oh, and also. What is the difference between S4 and S5? I keep seeing this and don't know what it is.
(I didn't know which forum topic to put this under since there is none for welcoming)

Oil goes through the rotor internals via the eccentric shaft, and oil is also injected into the rotor housing to lubricate the various seals via the oil injectors. Differences between S4 and S5 can be found here. Download an FSM while you're at it to get more info here. See lubrication system page 2-2 for an overview.

the S5 is more refined, and directly refers to the model years 89-91
the S4 refers to model years 86-88.

you may hear talk about S1 78-80 Rx7, S2 81-83 Rx7, and S3 84-85 Rx7
and there is also the S6 through i belive S8 Rx7 which woudl be for the third
generation models from 93-01 i belive maybe 02. (96-01 or 02 not in the US)

More abot S4 to S5 differences, the rear winds are different, the fron fenders are supposed to be slightly different, the front and rear bumber cover are different, the interiors are a little different. the S5's rotors also weigh less then the S4 rotors, the S5 has a higher redline. the S4 weighs less.

There are a lot more but i really dont have th time to list them all. I have seen many threads on this, but i too wouldn't want to go searchng for one.

BTW Congrats on your 7. I cant wait to get another. Matt

TY on the info about S4 to S5. So the S4 body is lighter and the S5 engine is stronger (with ECU). Thats cool. I would like to get a turbo engine swap for mine but I'm not looking to put tons of money into it. I'm using it more for a learning experience. I'll probably have some questions on some symptoms that I'm sure it will have once I get a chance to work on it.
