88 na no start

Hey guys i picked up my 88 a few weeks ago. would not start and prev owner was not to much help for the car. i got it here and messed with it and got it to run but it would sho0t up to 5500 and sit there and shut down after about 1 min. i could rev it higher but didnt. i fig it had a intake leak, so i took it apart and cleaned it up and got new gaskets. put it back together and only changed the 5-6 ports. i removed the tubes and rods plugged all the holes and now she wont start. she turns over really good then spits, almost starts but nothing... any help would be great. i know most of the basics about the 13b and i have mechanical skills. (im not a ducking fummy) but i dont know if this is a real prob or just something im overlooking. plz help!

Looks like your in a Pickle. Pickel...lol!

Align your pulley to the Timing Mark, and Restab the CAS(look that up).You can fine tune it later but as long as the Leading mark and CAS is aligned then it will run ok.
Also make sure that the throttle butterflies are closed and the cable itself is not keeping the TB open at normal Idle.
Those 2 suggestions would be helpful just to see "under normal circumstances" if the engine is properly setup.
If not then you got some chasing to do with what may be another problem,Like Vacuum leaks, etc.

ok so i found that my leading coil is not working right with the key on and at the plug for the ignitor im getting 7.4 dcv and have not tested it while truing to start cuz i dont want to fry my muli meter. batter has a 12.67 v charge... should that plug be giving me a 12v reading? it seams like l1 is bad and l2 is ok, but they are tied together as one is this possible or am i missing something?

ya,L1 and L2 batch fire so they should be linked together. The plugs get spark at the same time.
The trailing coils is triggered so it will be "separate" spark for each side.

suggestion would be taking the leading coil off and sanding the grounding points on it to get a good contact just to see if the power is getting through it ok.

Pull the boots out and look inside to see if you have corrosion where the wire makes contact too! Look at all the wires a few feet up, look at both the white two-pin connector and the single black pin too. You can pull the plastic cover off where the wires go into the cold-weld and see if you see anything, but check for any kind of corrosion and if you find any, they're cake to tear apart, clean, and rebuild. My coils look brand new.
