87 TII VS 95 Eclipse GS-T

I have a friend who just bought an eclipse turbo. Anyway he thinks he can beat me in a race. His car is stock. My car has an intake, downpipe, bonez cat, and 60mm HKS exhaust. I got a crane hi6 in the mail too. Who do you think would win. How much hp do tose things have?

Droops83 10-03-01 12:22 PM

You'll kick his ass! Unless, of course you don't know how to drive but hopefully you do. The '95 and up Eclipse GS-T has 210 hp, goes 0-60 in mi 6 second range, have no idea of the 1/4 probably low 15s. Even if it was stock against stock, it'd be close cuz he migh thave the slight edge in power-to-weight but youd have RWD. But with the mods you have you'll rip him a new asshole. Even if he was modded, those 2nd gen eclipses have a tiny, tiny turbo that only flows to like 240 hp. Go whip up on him.

I agree...

It's a GS-T! Meaning he has no AWD advantage. I've walked a couple GS-Ts one looked stocker, and the other was slightly modded. I raced a friends well modded GS-T spyder (big 16g turbo, running 18-22 psi), and he only took me by anout 1-1.5 cars in the QM! I like DSMs but the only ones that annoy me are the VERY modded ones, or the AWD ones (you have to launch perfect!).

If you lose to a stock GS-T with your car there's something wrong with your car or your driving skills. Enjoy the roast and let us know how it went.

One thing that annoys me is posts that say they have an upcoming race then you never hear anything more about it.

Be one that follows thru!

a stock one you should take pretty easily, I can hang with a GST on the freeway, never dragged one though. Kicked some guys ass on a back road. Bear in mind I have an n/a.

Just with a boost controller, those cars can go crazy fast, I'm talking 13's. I've been suprised a couple of times by those guys.

Umm sorry you need more than a boost controller to run 13's in a GS-T. The stock turbo @ 15 psi will run outta steam at around 6k. 15 psi is NOTHING on those cars. The one I raced was running 12 psi in his early gears and 22 in his 3rd and 4th gears! That was a big 16g ported and clipped, w/ afc and avc-r. At the track he's run low 14's best, but he can't launch his car for shit so he could easily pull mid 13's. A GSX is a different story... not by turbo standards but they will constantly land awesome 60' times and can hit high 13's on the stock turbo. I'll agree it is cheap to make a DSM fast (the 16g brand new can be had for $650), but it will take alot more mods than a boost controller =). BTW, I know alot of friends in Columbus DSM, which is why I know about these cars =).

Ya, once I get my exhaust & intake I am going to run my friends 98 GS-T & I have a N/A. I know I can run his bros GS. I want the bigger one, hehe.

stock 2nd gen and stock GST. 2nd gen wins? dont give me false hope and get me whooped. he claims he has a racing clutch on it but i dont believe that part. so what are my chances in my stocky.

You have a stock what? NA, you will get kilt. TII you will by a little bit lose more than likely. Just depends.

i'd be careful man...even if his GS-T is stock he's gonna beat you with ease (even if you have intake/exhaust)

my neighbor had a stock 98GSX (now its modded) and i'd race him in my 91 n/a. intake, high flow cat, N1 catback and he'd still spank me. the boost spools HELLA quick on those cars thanks to the small T25 :D

Rx-7Addict 02-09-02 11:31 PM

You should win stock

Theres no doubtin my mind that you will win based on those mods you have.

Bet money on it!

GS-Ts are funny to watch, especially modded ones... I always wondered why the racers seem to shift so slowly and gently compared to everyone else, then I was sitting past half-track and saw one of 'em backpedaling and fighting wheelspin after shifting into 4th gear

FWD = bad, mmkay? :D
