87 rx7 n/a +mods

What would be the best performance/other mods i could do on a budget of $6000 Canadian? Car specs: 130,000 kms on engine, new tires, new brakes, new calipers, regularily serviced, no rust.

Mazda trix true dual exhaust 1500 USD
Cold air intake 200 USD
lighter seats 5-600 USD
carbon fiber hood 600 USD
EMS if enough money is left over Don't know how much this would cost.

The exhaust is about 1250 dollars but considering shipping I would expect to pay that much. Weight reduction is free most of the time and makes you car faster without having to do anything to your engine. As far as something comperable to the true duals you could probably vuy the header alone and then have a muffler shop custom fabricate the system for you and then you just ad the Cans at the end. A custom exhaust will probably run you in the 4-500 dollar range. Personaly I like the Mazdatrix system because it has been tested and makes really good power. Not to mention it is a bolt on. It is good that you have the seats already.

For the money or for the most peak HP? I'd say go with a 2.5" straight pipe back to a universal muffler of your choice. A cone filter with a cold air box. As much weight reduction as you can do. N20 setup. S-AFC. All properly dyno-tuned.

Uhm, no. The exhaust is a good thing, true duals provide the biggest increase in the entire powerband. However for about 1/2 that price you can get a collected header, midpipe, and a single sided cat-back. This setup will produce slightly less power(not much less at all), but will be lighter. You can get a cone intake setup for $50 or less, just need an adapter and a cone filter. And lighter seats and a CF hood?? C'mon, with the money you spend on those things that will save you like 25lbs, and offer almost no performance gain, you can about get a rebuilt and streetported engine. Also port yout Intake manifold, port and mod the TB, get pineapple aux. port sleeves. Also a aluminum flywheel will help tremendously. Dont waste money on stupid crap....

Aux sleeves? I don't think that is a performance mod if they work which they proly do since the car sounds well taken care of. He already has seats. Like I saud he could just custom fab a dual setup localy for less than half the price.

The flywheel is a good one
Stainless steel lines for the brakes, clutch and oil cooler.

Don't be a baby leave the bottle at home dude.;)

Sure it is cheap power but I don't like it. Eventualy you run out of it or money to refill the bottles.

I would say upgrade the suspension along with the other mods listed.

I agree with Rxmfn7 (haha...after typing your name I realized what it stands for...hilarious! :D) in that despite the weight reduction (which although is VERY important...in this case won't be drastic or noticable to the un-keen eye) the money for now would be better spent on something else. That can come later when you're either really reaching for things to help out or just making the car "look pretty". But in the end it's up to you.

Btw...the exhaust (which ever you get) is easily the most important thing you can do on a rotary engine, followed by the intake. If you actually see the design of the stock one and how restrictive it really is as compared to a new one (even w/out driving it) you'll definately see the importance.

Good luck with the car :).
