does the sport edition come with LSD? if not what read end does it come with... the guy that sold me it said it had it but i think i read on here it doesn't.... :wallbash: how much is the swap for one and is it worth it? THANKS!

i dont know.... it has manual windows, no sunroof, how do i know if its s GXL? could somebody check the VIN?

Rev high, dump the clutch and count the strips of rubber.

Alternatively you can jack the rear end up and turn one wheel. If the other wheel turns the same direction, it as an LSD. They should spin opposite directions if it's an open diff. Now if it does have an LSD, then there's the question of whether it's burnt out of not. Refer to my first suggestion to answer this question.

not to stray off topic but, what are the advantages of lsd? and after i burnout, how many strips should i see? 2 for lsd or just 1?

Trust me, you dont have LSD. I have the same car as you. 87 GXL & Turbo ONLY came with factory LSD. Swap is anywhere from 100(used)-900(new) bux. If your wanting a LSD unit, buy a N/A LSD not a Turbo, it wont work.

If it has the tag on the pumpkin its LSD, I got my LSD off of a sport model, its the clutch type, but dosent have the beefy axles like the turbo.

According to the spec sheet, the sport model didn't come from the factory with an LSD. That really doesn't matter, though because many swap them in. My 87 Base model has an LSD.

Yeah the car I got it off of had been really molested, they must have done a swap, alot of things were altered. I was suprised as well, what a piece that thing was. The advantage of it is that its a little tougher and is supposed to help with tire spin, although the clutch type can wear out.

By the age of these cars, most clutch types are probably worn out. Then again, viscous types can also wear out given enough time/abuse.

okay, dont wanna start a new thread, but how hard is it to fix a sloppy shifter? i read that its a cheap fix, and common too... its loose, i think it mite be the bushings, should i buy a shift kit?

Yep, its the bushings. And I personally think its better to start a new thread than to post in someone elses, but maybe its just me.

oh and also thinking about removeing the cat, would this affect the engine in anyway? is there another o2 sensor in the piping? removing the cat would give me flames, and slightly help performance right?
