87 RX7 Fuel Pump

Hi I just replaced the fuel pump in my 87 Rx7 non turbo, and I accidently broke the wire tha goes from the little sensor that sticks out by the float, I was wondering if I could just connect these wires back together, while left uncoiled, and rap black electrical tape on it, or just leave the bare wire out in the open, I was looking and there is bare wire showing in the tank so I figgured this might be an option. I anyone could help me I would appreciate it.

I don't think it'd be a good idea to leave it open, as that could cause issues with grounding/odd readings/etc. The sticky on tape will dissolve in gasoline, so it won't hold and it'll fall off. What you may want to do is buy some tiny wire shrink wrap from radioshack and shrinkwrap the connection, the shrinkwrap I used would make a watertight seal, so this could be a possibility, however I am not positive if it will eat through it with time either.

yea, I thought of that and I also thought of it eating the tape and the heat shrink tubing, I also, didn't know if it needed those coils around the little rod, for it to work right.
