87 problem or problems

ok i have a 87 Fc that when i drive it and it gets to running temp it surges bad like its running out of gas the idel jumps from 800 to 1200 and i have to crank and crank to get it started

hmm...many things could be the culprit....check the compression, probably a good idea to send out the injectors to be cleaned
