87' NA apex seals blown, replace with turbo motor?
Just found out from the mechanic that the apex seals are blown on 87' non-turbo, need new engine.
What do u guys suggest? Thinking about just putting a rebuilt turbo engine in but not to sure where to go to get it. any suggestions? |
Best option is to swap or rebuild the NA.
Here is what's needed to turbo the NA: TII engine complete, with all sensors, throttle body, intercooler, etc. TII engine wiring harness TII main dash harness TII ECU TII instrument cluster is recommended (unless you buy an aftermarket boost gauge). TII AFM (although I HAVE seen the NA one used...) TII turbo inlet duct TII pressure sensor TII brake booster hose (IMPORTANT!!!) TII fuel pump or aftermarket pump TII fuel pump relay OR rewire for constant voltage TII clutch slave cylinder TII flywheel TII clutch disk TII pressure plate TII throwout bearing TII transmission with starter TII driveshaft TII rear differential TII halfshafts TII downpipe/midpipe or stock precats/cat. In short, you are best off finding a wrecked TII to use for parts... well, actually that is the second-best choice. The BEST choice is to sell the NA car and buy a nice TII. (Unless you want a convertible, then you don't have much choice...) |
