86 year clutch interlock switch applicability
I have a question for the real 2nd Gen gurus. I'm looking at getting a safety inspection, it's part of the registration process in my area. I recently got cited and have to make sure my car is in compliance. Previously I had one completed and they noted my "neutral safety switch" as they called it. Mazda refers to it as the Starter Interlock switch, it's supposed to prevent the starter from turning over if the clutch pedal is not depressed.
Now my car as far as I've owned it always started without having to press the clutch pedal in.
I searched under the dash around the pedals and I can only see the one switch, the Clutch Position/Cut out switch that deactivates the cruise control.
In 86 did they equip these cars with this switch?
It's a 86 GXL.
