86 Rx7 sitting for 5 years

I recently inherited an 1986 non turbo rx7 from my uncle. Its been sitting in his barn for 5 years. If towed it back to Toronto and I am trying to get it running. I've manage to get the car to turn and crank, but it does not start. I haven't done an oil change and i did put 10 litres of gasoline in my tank, that already had half a tank left over from 5 years ago. I did get new sparkplugs but haven't put them in yet. I was wondering is there any other procedures to get my car running, and other problems that i should look for.

Thanks in advance

Drain that 5 year old gas. Deflood, by takin out the EGI comp fuse (located in the fusebox on driverside shock tower) and crank for 10-15 seconds. Put in those new plugs. While the old ones are out, remove the EGI comp fuse again and crank for 10-15 seconds (basically a more aggressive deflooding procedure, can't hurt to do it if you have the plugs out anyway)
Try putting some oil (a teaspoon or so) in the spark plug holes to build up compression (it will smoke alot when it starts).

Check out Aaron Cake's site, he has a writeup on things you'll want to do when you restart a car after parking it a while. Google it and you should find it easily enough.

You've already tried to start it so you've already totally trashed the fuel system. :(

Now you'll have to pull most of the fuel system, have the injectors cleaned, probably replace the fuel pump, scour out the tank and follow all the stuff in the page linked to above.

That's the page I was talking about, when I start up my car when it finishes the rebuild, I'm going to have to re-check that list again.

Thanks for following me up with a link. :p

Im gonna drain all the fuel out of the tank and try cranking it. I hope i didn't damage the fuel pump i have another rx7 i got for spare parts right beside it incase i need it.

How about following the instructions I posted? :) There's more to it then just draining and cranking. Not the least of which is that inside of the engine is probably a bit rusty so you must dump some oil in there before you start spinning it over.

hey i got mine the same way haha. inherited a sitting one from my uncle. mine sat for 4 years basically outside (garage with no doors and it was sitting only half way under it)
same thing happened to me with cranking and all. new plugs, pull the egi fuse under the hood and crank, put back in try cranking again. make sure battery has a sufficient charge as well

being that it is an 86 i dont know if it has this option maybe aaron cake can chime in. if you floor it while your cranking it it should have the fuel cut off. thats only what i have to do if mine floods now

umm be prepared for a lot of smoke when it starts. might have a rough idle or not run smoothly. i think i had maybe about 2 gallons of gas in mine when i started mine up put a bottle or so of stp fuel injection cleaner and could hear it run better almost instantly (supposed to be mixed with like 15 gallons cause its concentrated)

and give the baby a nice wax!

S4s do not have the WOT fuel cut at cranking that S5s do.
