Hi guys,
I have a stock 2nd gen NA and i would like to increase it's performance. What to you suggest me that is not too expansive.

Lowering Springs! I put on some suspension techniques lowering springs, and I love it! suspension is VERY stiff and the car sticks to the road a lot better.... and it looks awesome too... Don't get progressive springs, get linear!

You can also do intake, exhaust, porting =)

To start off, I'd highly recommend improving your air system. Upgrading from stock intake is a must, then upgrade your exhaust. This is sometimes enough for most people. So, try this out first, and then figure out how much more you'd want to improve. Here's a short list of the modifications I've done to my 88 GXL. *I'd highly NOT recommend porting as you'd have to modify your car pretty heavily to have porting be effective.

-Splitfire Sparkplugs

That's most of them and I can't really think of any others. Since I don't race the car religiously I wanted something which felt really sporty, but at the same time comfortable. In any case, the ride's great and I wouldn't exchange it for anything in the world. I've owned motorcycles *CBR 600 F2, Ninja 750* and wouldn't trade it for them anyday. Well, hopefully this will help you out!

The biggest increase you'll get is by switching out the stock exhaust for something high flow. Your choices range from straight pipes to high flow aftermarket converters, with a couple choices between. Personally, i went with the bonez high flow cat, and wish i had goen with full headers and a straight pipe... just depends on what you want. The more free flowing your exhaust, the louder it will be.. just something to keep in mind :)
The second most noticeable would be getting some type of performance intake. Make sure your car is running perfectly before diving into mods... it will make your car run better, longer, and faster ....
