86 Mazda RX7 Radio Removal

Hey guys,

Thanks for your help in advance. I am looking to remove the radio k7 from my 86 Mazda RX7, which no longer works. It sounds like I need to unsnap the shifter boot molding to remove the two exposed screws. What do you use to unsnap the shifter boot? I started pooling on the shifter boot and it didn't sound right! It will help me if you had a picture, or just a detailed description.
Thanks for your help!
M.

It's not the leather boot itself, it's the piece it's mounted in that you need to unsnap.

Put a Flat screwdriver under the shifter surround,by the carpet/seats.it will pop up.
take the Ashtray out,you will see two phillips Screws,Unscrew those.Pop the Stereo Logicon Vent surround off,That will Expose Two more screws IN the vent area at the Top of the surround.(These TWO Screws are the reason for Broken surrounds!!).
Once the surround is off you will see Multiple Phillips screws that hold the Stereo Cage in.Remove those and the Stereo will slide out.Disconnect the antenna and the Connectors..Done!
