7 loses its balls

Ok guys I ran into a little problem. The other day my car started acting a little funny. I dont know whats goin on but I mean this is what happened. Well driving the car I realized that it went up to 4000rpm in each gear but at 4000 it would not rev anymore. It would just sit there and sort of stall. My mechanics that work on my 7 said that my 6 ports may be stuck, or that the vacuum line leading to them could have came loose, or the cable that opens and closes them could have broke. But just this afternoon the car drove right past 4000rpm and felt pretty strong again. I did notice throughout the entire powerband all the way up to about 90mph that I would get small amounts of hesitation, but nothing big. then again I could of just been noticing something that wasnt even there. but I mean main thing is it did not get stuck at 4000rpm and stall as it did just the previous day and a couple hours earlier. Any help would be greatly appreciated guys. Thanks

check your fuel filter -- was recommended to me as well since i have almost the exact same problem as yours. haven't tried it out yet though since i'm still waiting for my FLAPS to get the shipment in.

Do a >>> SEARCH <<<< for 3800 hesitation.

Yeah I my gas mileage hs got really terrible lately also which leads me to believe my fuel fileter is shot. I mean I have to fill up every 2 or 3 days man and I dont do much driving....its so frustrating

SonicRaT 08-31-04 02:45 PM

Easy, not enough fuel. Why will follow:

A) Fuel pump
B) Fuel filter
C) secondary injectors seized/dirty/not functioning/bad grounds/whatever
D) major vac leak that causes it to lean out so much at 4k that it can't run any better (unlikely if you maintain anything of an idle)

FAQ: 3800 Hesitation.

Basically, your grounds are more or less dirty and not making good contact so the ECU is freeking out.

SevenDreamz 08-31-04 02:52 PM

Yeah well I wonder why now its driving jsut fine....I am going to replace the fuel filter and how hard is it to remove the secondary injectors, though I highly doubt its them b/c they were changed along with new grommets before I bought the car about 4 months ago and the new ones are 660cc

SonicRaT 08-31-04 03:01 PM

Please tell me you are NOT running anything over stock sized injectors in an n/a!? Are you sure you don't mean the 440? There's absolutely no reason for anything larger than stock! And I'm guessing you have no S-AFC or anything to even control the larger injectors, if they are infact larger?

If you truely have 680 or 660 or whatever that's larger than stock, then that's why your poor car is sucking so much ass (gas mileage, performance, etc). Go stock and you'll be a hell of a lot better off!

SonicRaT 08-31-04 03:03 PM

God damn forum... :)

Seven- you had a clogged cat, that somehow unclogged itself, which still means you have shit sitting around in your exhaust somewhere. If you're burning through the gas, how could the fuel supply side be the cause? Think about it...

SonicRaT 08-31-04 04:19 PM

Cuz he's got oversized injectors with nothing to control it on an n/a!

WAYNE88N/A 08-31-04 04:24 PM

Lol, I'm assuming for now he screwed up on the "660" thing :)

SevenDreamz 08-31-04 04:25 PM

Sry I have not listed my mods, but I have 12,000miles on my 13B
Aggressive Streetport
S5 Rotors for higher compression
TB Mod
TB Ported
Intake Manifold Ported
RB Exhaust
T2 Housings
And I have a S-AFC to control everything, I have been playing around with the settings b/c I ahve been told to richen it up in the S4's above 4000rpm whereas u need to lean out above 4000rpm in the S5's. But I will check my grounds and how would I know if its the cat?

I too thought this. But then it occured to me, why would he bother listing the size if they were stock replacements? Especially going out of his way after mentioning he had replaced them, and tacking it on at the end, as if to say they're different. Oh well, we'll see. :)

SevenDreamz 08-31-04 04:26 PM

i have 660 secondaries and they work well. The car dynoed at 185rwhp when I bought it from owner.

WAYNE88N/A 08-31-04 04:30 PM

Hitting a wall at 4K and using way to much gas compared to average use are classic symptoms of a clogged cat.

SonicRaT 08-31-04 04:30 PM

With or without nitrous? Either way, 660 is overkill for an n/a, less a bridgeport/p-port.
