6800rpm hesitation?
hey well after getting of work i was bored so i wanted to go to redline in 1st. when i noticed that at about 6800rpms weakend, so i was like thats odd, tried second and it seemed like the engine is jumping around when it hits 6800 rpms so im an idiot and did it like 2-3 times more and same result, i know of a 3500-4000rpm issue but not 6800 thanks and if this has been covered before let me know.

Could be ignition break-up?
? what do you mean?
what do you do about the 4000rpm hesitation, im new and i just got my rx7... can someone explain what it is and how you fix it?
I have this hesitation whenever I accelerate right around 3500-4000 RPM
The dreaded 3800 RPM hesitation is cause 90% of the time by poor ground connections between the engine, the battery, and the car. Clean or replace all the under hood ground connections. On 86 model year cars , replacing/regrounding the pressure sensor's ground wire has helped (do not re-ground a 87 or later model year). If there is still a problem after that, look at cleaning the fuel injectors and (on a N/A) that your 5th/6th ports are operating correctly. becuase your new i wont yell at you :), but alot of simple things are in the faq and if you search the forums you can find info and not make people help you instead of others when the info is out there. |
yeah i hopefully will be an aspiring fc owner :] but i really want to get into this car stuff, so i dont know much about cars, guess ill have to lounge in this section for a while..

read the whole faq and links off of it

For the 6800 hesitation, it does sound like ignition breakup or misfire. How are your plugs looking? Is your timing set correctly/ever been messed with. Plug wires in good condition? Does it hesitate right at 6800 rpm, or 6800 and everywhere past it? Could also be a fuel issue, how is your fuel filter looking? -Marques |
i was having the same problem with mine and simply replacing the spark plug wires fixed it right up.
I was having the same problem... dont know witch was the problem but i change the spark pulg wires, and the spark plugs, and he runs just fine... :bigthumb:

CHECK THE VDI IF YOU'VE GOT A S5 N/A
It just solved my problem! |
new, plugs and wires less than 1000 miles, haven't checked timing, never timed a rotary haha so i guess ill look at the fsm for that, whats vdi ya its an s5 n/a? also yeah its 6800-8000, i've been meaning to get a new fuel filter suppose thats on the agenda for today and timming
Variable Dynamic Intake... opens at 5.5 or 5.8, i'm too lazy to look it up, but if it's still closed it'll start lose power in the high RPMs like an S4 (or moreso). (FYI S4 NA redline = 7k, S5 = 8k)

That or you have a vacuum leak causing the VDI not to open... |
ok ill look into that it opens at 5500 i feel that increase
hm ok, i forgot to try to unplug it but it was connected, and actually it doesn't pick up at 5500rpms. so i guess i have a 4port motor until i find the vacuum leak, any ideas where the vacuum leak would be?
Yeah, same thing in my case, sometimes VDI opens up sometimes it doesnt...I judge my acceleration by a red light to another red light when I leave for work, sometimes I can hit 100mph by the next light (which is like a 1/4 mile if not less which makes no sense in my book) and sometimes ill only hit 80mph...
haha, mine seems like it never opens, feel like its a 4 port cuz its fine then it kinda jumps at 5500 rpms but then it doesn't give that extra surge then at 6800 it feels like its all choppy and not happy and wussy to 8000rpms. so i dont go over 5500rpms for now until i figure this out.
anyone have any other ideas?
buy a TOYOTA
you have 7 posts, get off this forum if you just going to be a fag. hope you get an Fc and die drifting but the car doesn't get damaged becuase that would be a terrible waste of an fc.

That or you have a vacuum leak causing the VDI not to open... What difference should be expected after unplugging that? |
i think the point is if its broken it'll be the same unplugged, ill see if that is true.
gound under manifold maybe??
I can feel the power dropping in my car after like 6800 rpm or so, mine is non turbo though...
