6500rpms car died. *UPDATE*

Well im not going to lie about what happened, but I will give you guys a brief story.
I was on the highway cruising @ 80mph around 2am. A new V8 S4 comes up and instigates a race...I bite.
Go up to an indicated 130 (in fifth), and let off because the S4 was behind.
I slowed down to 100mph and he flew by. I hit the gas and nothing...
The car had no power, but the rpms werent going down VERY very slow (with my foot to the floor).
I downshifted to fourth still nothing. Luckily i was right by an exit...as I went to turn off, my power steering and brakes went out.
Right before i got in the gas station all my idiot lights went on and the abs light flashed.
As soon as the car was stopped, it shot out a little cloud of blue/white-ish smoke and died.

I popped the hood and didnt notice anything...except some oil around the turbo.

Tried to start the car...no go.

Right now i dont have the car, but i can look at it on monday.
Any ideas?

(YES i searched)

*update*

uhoh.

how much boost were you running? mileage on engine? original engine? stock turbo? boost creep?
we need more details man

Lawerence 07-18-04 12:37 PM

ok sorry.
Origonal engine. Origonal turbo. 80K miles.
11psi MAX no creep.
Battery seemed to be good (green indicator)

???

jacobcartmill 07-18-04 03:40 PM

do you have any fuel mods? 11psi is probably overpowering your stock fuel pump.

there was a guy that posted in the dyno/timeslips section that posted that he was in the 13's AFR's with even a walbro fuel pump at 10psi it was also a series5.

i'm thinking that you may have lost some apex seals if you've been boosting 11psi with the stock fuel pump and injectors. do a compression test on it monday

how can he compression test it if it wont crank?

Terrh 07-18-04 05:33 PM

his SIG says he has 720s.

He said it wouldn't start, not that it wouldn't crank. There is a big difference. You just want the motor to spin, not start up.

Well the front rotor has no compression, the rear is shitty.

motor is being pulled and ripped apart to asses the damages :(

maybe a rebuild, or jspec engine...or possibly a piston engine....

Damn man, sorry to hear about that. :( If all you hurt was the motor, rebuild the thing!
