63k miles - what should I do for maitence?
 

Ok, I'll be getting my rex in about a month or so (few things he's doing to make it ready.... plus I'm still saving a bit (hence my screenname).

The car has 63k miles on it, 30k originally on the motor, plus it is currently being rebuilt to solve some compression problems, and that port thing.... clean fuel injectors, and just a good over all cleaning.

Is there any maitence about to come up on it right now?

I would REALLY like to add some differential grease, trans fluid, water and antifreeze.

Am I being paranoid? As far as I know, the car is in really good condition, the guy who owns it now knows his rotaries and takes care of it. Anything I should really consider changing or adding?

I want this baby to last as long as I can

The 60K mile service includes changing all belts, spark plugs, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter and all fluids including brake and clutch fluid as well as tranny, diff and coolant.

It would also be prudent to repack the front wheel bearings and replace the spark plug cables.

are parts for the 7 easily available? such as plugs, cables, belts. What kind of clutch, brake, tranny etc. (Dont have a user's manual)

Brake and clutch fluid I like Castrol LMA, for coolant Prestone (but find out what they put in your motor on the last rebuild, you don't want to mix brands), oil= Castrol GTX.

Plugs may or may not have to special order... just depends on the store and part of the country.

Belts and thermostat go to the local Mazda dealer.

Plug wires: NGK are fine for non racing/street applications.

Plugs themselves should be NGK

I am prefer Redline MT90 for the tranny and Shockproof for the diff.

and yes it is a big tune up every 60K miles, but other than oil and filter changes, there is almost not other major work until 100-120K (were you should do the same things and also replace the Pulsation dampner and thermostat)

You can get the plugs at a local Mazda dealer for about $7 each.

no...GTUs are good. They have a nice suspension setup from stock and better gearing than GXLs or base models
