5th & 6th port electric air pump prob.
i did the lumbar pump mod to open the 5th and 6th ports on my 84 gsl-se and all went well except that the pump turns on at the right rpm but the actuators do not pull the arms down. the 5&6 port linkage works excellent with no binding.
like i said i know the pump is functioning fine and i also used a later model actuator(the ones with the air nipple right on the actuator) to test the pump and it operates the later mod actuator fine. anyone know what i am missing here? thanks joe |
Pull the actuator hose off.
Jumper the pump on. Does air come out the hose? |
84s had sixports... meh learn something everyday. Did the actuator work before? If yes, then check the air feed from the pump. If no, the actuator may be stuck. If its stuck you need to either unstuckify it using liberal amounts of penetrating lubricant and some hand tools, or remove the entire LIm and clean the actuators adn sleeves.
Keep in mind that if one of the actuators has a hole in the diaphram, it won't opperate. This is one of the problems I had with my setup. |
yes there is air coming out of the hose at the correct rpm and the linkage works great.
i will check for an actuator leak. |
so far from what i can tell the lumbar pump isn't putting out enough cfm's to operate the actuators. i can make them work fine with the shop air compressor so at this time i am reducing the air to the ports from the shop air compressor to see how much pressure it takes to open the actuators.

that is a possibility... i always heard the rule was right around 3.6-4psi per actuator. theres 2 actuators on an s4 and 4 on an s5. How many lumbar pumps do you have?
|
i have 2 pumps but was only using 1 at this time
