5lug conversion

I am converting my 87 se to gxl brakes/wheels ect. How much trouble is this? I have a 86 gxl parts car with the suspension and brakes so i already have the parts. I was planning on removing the brakes this weekend form the gxl and then installing them on my car next weekend. is this an easy swap? My 87 is my daily driver so i'll have to do it over the weekend. Also do i have to use the calipers from the gxl too or can i stick with the se calipers? Thanks..

swapping the parts should take you about the same amount of time as removing them from the parts car...remember to use fresh pads and if you have the rotors out of the parts car run them to an auto parts store and have them re-surfaced.

are the calipers interchangable though?

The rear brakes are the hard ones... the fronts are simple.

On the front, just swap everything: Hub-bearing, rotor, caliper, and brake line.

On the rear, you'll need to swap the rear hub assembly. To remove the assembly, you'll have to remove the large nut in the center and push the half shaft out. Then remove the three bolts that hold the hub assembly and it will come off the car.

To do this job properly, you should get a new bolt for the half shaft from the dealer. And I strongly recommend that you put in the toe-eliminator bushings while you have the rear hubs off.
