50mm spacers in the rear
As far a i am concerned the front of my car is finished. I have -1 offsetted 16x8 wheels in the front, with 30mm wider fenders. I am happy with that. The rear looks crackheaded compared to the front. Not because of the offset but because of bulkyness, and modifications. It reminds me of that guy at the gym that has the upperbody of a gorrilla with the lower body of a 12 year old girl. It is time to work on the rear of the car now. car has 16x9 +38ish offset in the rear and soon to be 30mm overquarters. My question is if i put 50mm spacers (or what ever mm around that estimation, still have to measure) on the car, will that be unsafe? Thanks in advance,

Yes.

Get wider wheels.

"Yes".... "get wider wheels"
Thanks. Now i guess the next question is (assuming i have well made hubcentric qualitytits spacers)...... Why are they unsafe? Buddy o mine has a 240 bla bla 40mm spacers bla bla no issues.. john ny |
it might be unsafe if you the stud is not long enough. On my stock wheel, i can only use 8mm spacer because the stud is not long enough.

I run spacers in the rear since I have RE wide rears and they've been fine for 3 years. But.... the spacers I have are perfect, no fleabay here. They're the real deal jdm spacers and they are expensive!
However, my motivations are different then yours. I have mazdaspeed rays in 17x9 and they are discontinued. To my knowledge, 9" was the widest they made them. I could get another set of forged rims, but I don't want to. Bottom-line is you get what you pay for. Make sure you get quality spacers if you do use them. Just my 2* |
I use 2" inch spacers all around on my truck, they work great and it is a lot bigger then the RX7.
The new spacers are plenty strong and perfectly safe. In fact just the other day my spacers stud up to a ~15mph sideways stop on the curb (long story short, guy running stop sign + me in front of him + rain + stepping on gas = Spin out and running into the curb) So yeah, safty is not a problem. |
Thats what i am lookin for.
Thanks flash and texas ace. john ny |
