3rd gear syncro
my 87 t2 has a bad 3rd gear syncro and i was wondering if any of u guys knew a ballpark price for a shop to rebuild the trans? i know all shops are different but has anyone ever had theres rebuilt and able to tell me a price? thanks

I got a local quote for around $1000 for an N/A. That doesn't mean it'd be that much, but there's a general idea. What kinda lube are you running in the tranny? Redline and other high grade synthetics seem to help synchro's sucking ass.

ur best bet would be to get a jdm transmission and install it your self, any shop that actaully knows what they are doing is gonna charge an arm and a leg to rebuild 1.
u should try the redline gear oil first tho it might make it last a lil longer. |
I spent $900 to get my s5 n/a trans. rebuilt after parts and labor, putting it in and taking it out.
P.S. don't get any parts from Drivetrain Specialists of Las Vegas, they sent me the wrong kit twice both times with different parts. Both kits together gave me an almost full kit (never did get the right 3rd & 4th gear synchro's) |
thanks for the replies guys. where in illinois did u get this done geoman?
