3800 Crap!!!

I was just outside in the great Canadian wilderness and parked under a street lamp for light to find myself soldering this ground wire from my pressure sensor which I then ran it to the screw on the top my rad which keeps the filler car down. I drove my car and warmed it up. Then to no avail, there it was again. Piss me off

Any thoughts?
mine is an 87 body and wires with an 88 engine.
Help

K, I dug out some fat 6 gauge wire. Maybe 14 or 12 wasn't enough.
Where is the best ground on our cars?

Who has been successful performing this fix?
Was the fix really have a substantial difference on performance?
I can imagine it would or either my hesitation is just worst than most.

Thanks

I did the same fix two days ago and it didn't work for me either. I'm doing the ECU tomorrow. See here: http://home.earthlink.net/~burntoast/3700.html

hey man, I'm gonna try one more time 1st thing tomorrow morning with a fat wire, if not I'm gonna try the ecu too

What kind of car do u have?

Sniper_X 01-05-02 10:42 PM

Dont chase the ground problem...

In my opinions, this whole idea of bad engine ground is RARELY the cause of anything that goes wrong with the engine.

There are no less than THREE engine ground points, and and one of them is good enough.

Look elsewhere...

Resolder your ECU try starting it again.

So did u resoder your ECU? with the help from that address above?
What kind of car do u have?

I just added the ground from the negative battery terminal to one of the bolts under where the hood closes.

BiG WaNkLeR 01-06-02 12:08 AM

and with that u fixed the entire hesitation?

rx7_turbo2 01-06-02 12:16 AM

I have'nt solved it completely but I minimized it a great deal with some tweaking of my S-AFC.

JScott 01-06-02 12:24 AM

I tried all the grounding, all of it. No luck. I tested all my sensors and tried a different AFM. Still there.

2 weeks ago I finally pulled my injectors. The "bleed screen" plastic strainers below my injectors were really plugged up. My 2ndary inj. plastic tips were also broken. I put in 2 used injectors and cleaned my strainers and I have NO 3800 hesitation anymore. I thought the injectors were fine since I ran a 13.19 @ 104mph with them that way.

Give this a try.

I know this sounds dumb but I don't care and am too tired to look it up up, what is the S-AFC?

Flobb 01-06-02 10:13 AM

Along the lines of what JScott said, I had the hesitation and it turned out to be the injector plug. The rubber backing on the plug was cracked and the wire was coming out the back of the plug. So I shoved it back in and wound electrical tape all around it.

BiG WaNkLeR 01-06-02 11:19 AM

so this is the plug or wiring that goes to the injectors?

MaxRX7 01-06-02 11:41 AM

I'm curious to know also.

The 3800 hesistation only occurs when my car is cold and not fully warmed up, then it disappears....

Haven't tried any of these methods though.

Also my lights (guages) dim when I step on the brake pedal.

BlackRx7 01-06-02 12:09 PM

well I ran a 6 guag wire from my negative terminmal to the bolt that holds the headlight assembly on, it competly fix it for me for about 2 weeks now its back, not as bad and doesn't happen unless I go very very easy on the throttle

dunno, just wanted to say something

oh yeah and my tail lights and instrument cluster stay on all the time, so I have to pull the fuse and put it in every day and night, it blows, dunno where the short would be
