350hp goal???

Hi Im Rod, havve a 88 rx7 tii swap. I was looking to get around 350-400hp. Is this possible without any porting? If so what is the quickest and easiest way to get those kind of numbers?

K-Tune 11-17-09 10:18 PM

GT35R, standalone, big injectors/pump, upgrade clutch.

first, this kinda stuff has been covered many times.

second, the difference between 350 and 400rwhp is pretty big. for 350 for instance you can get away with mostly really awesome bolt ons (although your pushing it) like rtek2.1, bnr stage 4, injectors, pump, 3"inch exhaust blah blah blah. but for 400 your gonna need lots of fuel, a pretty healtysize turbo and a stanalone.

third, theres really no easy and quick way to achieve either.

my suggestion is to look into the numbers that others' setups are putting down and approximate what you need from that. whats certain tho is that nearly everythng (with the exception of maybe ignition as the stock fc system is exceptionally good) will need upgrading.

custom intake, 3 inch straight pipes, bnr stage 3 or 4, rteck 2.1, big injectors, walbro fuel pump, front mount intercooler, and a very good tune should get you to 350. plus you'll need supporting mods like a wideband 02 sensor, boost controller. and with that power you will need to upgrade the clutch and you might wanna change all fluids especially in the diff and tranny

Who cares how many posts he has? Maybe he has owned the car for 10 years and just now decided to mod it and start talking about it online?

To the OP, as mentioned above, there is a difference between 350 and 400HP. For example, the turbo mentioned (GT35R) is in my opinion a great turbo for sub 400HP but starts to get pushed around 400 wheel HP on stock ports (boost generally needs to go to around 20 PSI to do this, which can lead to reliability issues). This is standalone territory.

350 HP on the other hand can be accomplished with bolt on hybrid turbos and moderate fuel system upgrades.

390 rwhp from an '87 T-II.

if money is an issue stay at or under 350rwhp goal. You can get near there with a bolt on turbo, Rtek 2.1 and 720/1000 injectors

ArrExSe7ev 11-19-09 01:50 AM

Thanks everyone. Money is no issue, I think im got to go with the gt35r setup.
So 400hp is possible without any porting, but it the motor jus might not be able to support it?
If i do decide to get some porting done, which would be the best one for that ammout of power?

BuujinBejiita 11-19-09 02:09 AM

A decent street port would do wonders for it with all the supporting mods.

If money is no issue bring the car to a good shop and say when I come back I want 400hp lol...

*TOUCH* 11-19-09 06:08 AM

The best porting is subjective. The ports I was planning to use where done by GregW, who IIRC, used a small Judge Ito port and modified it.

I would go on the smaller side. It'll help make power but not so much turn drivability to shit. Keep in mind you'll make the most power with the turbo and not the porting.
