350HP - cheapest wait to get there?
Basically, what is the cheapest way to get 350hp out of a Turbo II FC safely? I was thinking custom 3" exhaust from the turbo back, HKS T04 turbo manifold, T04 turbo, TurboXS manual boost controller, FC controller, walbro 255 fuel pump, guages, and a custom front mount intercooler.
What do you guys think, also how much would this cost around with the custom work? I know this has probably been asked before in other variations so I apologize if it has - I guess I'm just looking for a 350hp recipe that's totally affordable (even if done one thing at a time) Also, about what kind of time could I expect with 350hp in the FC? Am I missing something here? (newbie to rotarys) |
the cheapest way to get 350HP?
well someone had to say it so i will.... LOTS of stickers and a super XXXOS wing on the back. :D |

If your thinking Power FC for a EMS, think again. They only work on FDs here in the states. A different option would be wolf/haltech/etc.
You also forgot the wastegate, bigger injectors, and oil and coolant lines to the turbo. There's more, but I have to goto work now... |
75 shot of nitrous and a little more boost and fuel will get you up there safely. I dont know about 350rwhp, but the nitrous will cool your intake temps, which should prove handy on a turbo, also, it'll boost your low end power which the rotary engines dont have.

350HP - cheapest wait to get there?
You are on the right track but I think you should think of what's the combonation will be the safe. If you cut corners it will end up costing you more in the long run.;) |
Really, if you wanna play, you gotta pay.
You're looking at a minimum of - - Full exhaust - Intake - Intercooler - Larger turbo (*maybe* a hybrid, but likely a full T04 on an HKS manifold) - LOTS of fuel - Fuel management - Boost control - Blow-off valve - Upgraded clutch - Complement of gauges That's just to begin with. On the cheap side, buying things used and fabbing stuff, maybe $3000. That also doesn't factor in the rest of the car - making 350hp in a car with blown-out stock suspension and poor brakes is a REALLY bad idea. Add to that some good quality tires so you can actually get traction, too. Also, do you think you can make 350hp on a tired, 120,000 mile motor? Nope. It's gonna give at some point. You're also going to have numerous things go wrong - leaky radiator, worn water pump, new alternator/starter, clutch hydraulics, etc. 300-350hp to the ground is my goal with my current build-up, and I can tell you right now it's FAR from easy or cheap. You're going to spend many times the value of the car on the path - part of the problem is we're not dealing with new, low-mileage cars any more, and there's lots of things that need to be fixed. Not to mention if I'm making that kind of horsepower, I don't want to pop my hood and have a dirty, cobbled-together Home Depot setup - that's just embarassing. A lot of the time in my buildup has gone towards cleaning and refinishing everything to make the car as close to new and as top quality as possible. Dale |

Originally posted by eViLRotor Dale's is the proper way. The cheapest way is a shitload of nitrous and extra fuel. Yeah, probably the cheapest way would be a big wet nitrous setup. But, I would defininitely raise some reliability concerns. 350hp is fun, but you don't want to spend the money to experience it ONCE then hand-grenade the motor. "Horsepower" and "Cheap" are inversely proportional to each other. I also stress the point I made about the other components in your car - having driven a 300+ horsepower FC for a while, you'd be surprised how much you need good suspension and brakes! With a car that can get into ludicrous speeds VERY quickly, you really need to be able to haul it down VERY quickly. I don't think the majority of the people on this forum have driven high-horsepower cars and fully understand and appreciate the whole picture. Dale |
i'm doing everything but the motor first. reliability then suspension brakes and tires
do the motor in a year or two. it can wait. it's better to be fast around a road corse and stop on a dime than haul ass down the strap strip and blow something up. at least this is my opinion. |
you need 10 grand to get that kind of hp
good luck bro;) |
