2nd gens with tagga tops

do they exist? pics?

Tofuball 01-10-05 09:37 PM

The top half of the 'Convertable RX-7's top can be removed, without having to put down the rear half. Thus, making it a "Targa"

soulja77 01-10-05 09:41 PM

iwell i am referring to non convertibles. rx7s with custom targa tops...

Jager 01-10-05 09:41 PM

There is a custom one around here on the forums, I can't remember his SN.

inflatablepets 01-10-05 10:27 PM

crashdummy 01-10-05 10:28 PM

Section of the roof that can be taken out. Similar to some Supra's, Corvettes, and the NSX-T.

There is no factory T-top like the older Supras and MR2's had, but the front section of the convertible's roof can be removed while the rear half stays up, which gives basically the same effect.

soulja77 01-10-05 11:58 PM

i think it can be done by modifying the airbagit.com convertible truck kit. what do you guys think?

hello, muahaha, only targa converted coupe around, dont copy me

bigdv519 01-11-05 02:20 AM

What kind of structual support did you give the car in order to achive this. LOOKS GREAT!!! I was just wondering about any chassis flex since the roof was a definite structual member. Again, it looks great!!!

staticguitar313 01-11-05 02:26 AM

haven't had any flex, minimal support, 2 rails underneath, and the 3 point roll bar, the cassis is goign to get so tube steel welded underneath eventually, the targa is in no way perfect yet, but once i get the changes made its gunna be the best

RoTa7 01-11-05 02:36 AM

definatley looks nice. I actually thought about it, but couldn't justify the loss in structural integrity to have a little more airflow and sun in the car.

OverDriven 01-11-05 12:35 PM

Ehhhh...I don' really like it.

ERAUMAZDA 01-11-05 02:48 PM

Supra?

gingenhagen 01-11-05 02:56 PM

yeah, looks too much like a supra to me. Awesome job, but I'd rather keep mine the way it is.

IaMtHeRuThLeSs1 01-11-05 03:11 PM

I think it looks awesome...and IF I had the money I would copy you

Wait a minute didn't you buy your RX-7 like that already? SO technicaly it wouldn't be copying YOU. Just messin with ya. But i want to do this very bad except i'd use convertible doors and the convertible targa section, at least for its latches seals and stuff.

soulja77 01-11-05 07:22 PM

how much do you think this conversion would cost????

BlueSteel 01-11-05 07:30 PM

too much. buy a mark III supra lol
