2nd gen. gas tank

anyone got any diagrams or pics of the tank. im missing a gasket at the top of my tank so gas is spilling out of the top when full. Anyone know what im talkin bout?

another thing is my gas gauge isnt working... could anyone point me in the right direction.

i have dual walbros which i did not set up myself. so regardless i gotta pull my pumps n figure it out.

You can buy rubberized gasket paper at pep boys, auto zone, advance auto parts, etc. Mark the paper and cut it with the oval shape of the fuel tank hole. Then make the holes for the little bolts and that would work.

i cant jus purchase the gasket from mazda?

is the float still set up the same way with dual pumps? does anything change?

Fix it immediately and do not drive the car until it's fixed.

You will find fuel tank diagrams in the Factory Service Manual, which you will find in the FAQ. The gasket is available from the dealer.

Test the sender and gauge according to the procedure in the FSM.

I was going to replace my fuel pump filter on my 88 vert but the dealer here in s.c said it is no longer available. Guess you have to make one like nitro said.

lol this cant be true damn...

A7X 04-14-08 06:44 PM

ok so the gasket is discontinued that is shitty. Should i just go buy a sheet and cut it out? does it have to be of certain type that gas doesnt dissolve it?? i know someone can help me...

alot of people will probably disagree with me on this, but this is what I did on my ford escort when I changed the fuel pump

I used LOTS of Form-A-Gasket, 3 years later and it still ain't leaking

Have you tried the search button?
I don't know the answer to your question, but it's unlikely you'll find transmission help hidden in a thread about fuel tank gaskets.
