2-stroke oil in engine?

any1 try running 2-stroke oil in the engine? i mean, not just premix, but actually do an oil change with 2-stroke oil. i was wondering if this would cause the bearing and such to wear more.

also, duz anyone know if 2-stroke synthetic oil has the same ill effects on our engine as normal synthetic oil?

YearsOfDecay 01-12-04 06:37 PM

Dude... That would SERIOUSLY gum things up......

trainwreck517 01-12-04 06:59 PM

Why would you want to do this?

People premix because the OMP doesn't cover everything.. But if you were to use 2 stroke oil with omp.. it would be worse then just motor oil..

2-stroke is made to be mixed with gas.

So if you have an oil change and just use premix... don't expect that engine to last every long.

rxseven 01-12-04 07:22 PM

your journal bearings would not last long.

SpeedFreak03 01-12-04 08:04 PM

I doubt that would work very well...it is supposed to be mixed with gas.

loofeeTurboII 01-12-04 08:11 PM

DO NOT!!! i repeat DO NOT!! do that from personal experience a friend done that ..and 4 hrs of diving later =engine failier.

lol. ok, so it is a bad idea. good to know. the reason i asked is because if it could be done, the the omp would inject 2-stroke into the engine, which would burn nice and clean.

Nice and clean LOL :)

as stated above, not a mod, a engine killer!

Icemark 01-13-04 05:38 PM

If you want the MOP to inject 2 stroke oil, (for what ever reason) then get the adapter from Rotary Aviation

oregano 01-13-04 06:06 PM

what if i create an external reservoir for the omp myself.

would it be better to inject 2-stroke through the omp, into the combustion chamber? or should i inject regular engine oil?

SpeedFreak03 01-13-04 06:37 PM

you could leave it the way it is...:D

oregano 01-13-04 06:40 PM

"you could leave it the way it is..."

not really. the car is going to be a track car, so i would like it run on synthetic oil if possible, but this would require me to run an external reservoir for the omp, since i do not want the engine to burn synthetic.

so... getting back on track. would it be better to inject 2stroke oil through the omp, or regular motor oil???

White_FC 01-13-04 06:52 PM

If it is really going to be a track car then you should really be running pre-mix.

Far greater wear protection for a car running a high RPMS a good chunk of the time.

One problem with just running 2-stroke through the stock MOP is that it still does not evenly coat the whole housing surface with oil...

Run pre-mix.

SpeedFreak03 01-13-04 07:01 PM

Oh i didnt know it was gonna be a track car...my bad. Anyway like white_fc said run a premix. GOod luck!

oregano 01-13-04 07:12 PM

i will definately run premix, but i was thinking bout this as an addition as wel, since i would like to run synthetic oil.

Howi 01-13-04 07:25 PM

Some people don't deserve cars.... they really don't..
i guess people who deserve to own cars are the ones who run 18psi w/ 460cc injectors and can't secure the wastegate line properly.

howi

White_FC 01-13-04 07:27 PM

Ummm..... well running premix would make the MOP redunant and silly to keep using.

So if your running premix you can take the MOP off and use any engine oil you'd like to use.
Thats the beauty of it. :)

Dude, that is soooo totally different from trying to run 2-stroke oil in the engine main.

The reason it ran 18psi was because the wastegate line fell off, I wasn't running 18psi before that.. :)

Besides, I never said _I_ deserved to own a car either.. maybe I don't? :p:

"Besides, I never said _I_ deserved to own a car either.. maybe I don't?"

haha. u got burned. haha.

duz anyone know about 2stroke synthetic? duz it even exist or is it just a figment of my immagination?

also, duz anyone know for sure if premixing without an omp is enough lubrication for the track?? i could premix with a larger ratio of oil but i am worried i would lose power. i would rather premix less oil and inject oil through the omp.

so duz anyone know if it is better to inject 2stroke through the omp or regular oil?

haha. um, no I didn't get burned... sorry..

Somehow trying to oil your engine bearings with 2-stroke oil and having your wastegate line fall off just seem, I don't know, somehow different to me..

Anyawy,
It is definatly fine to use pre-mix only for a track car, lots of people do it..
Including me.

Generally about the 100:1 ratio seems pretty acceptable amoungst many rotary race people i've spoken to about it.

I don't understand why your so worried about which way you inject the oil with regards to power, the power output wont be changed.

Some old racers infact used to add premix to lower the octane rating of their fuel but increasing the specific energy of it, IIRC.

It is better for your car to burn 2-stoke oil than 'normal' engine oil, yes.

Premixing is better for lubrication than using the MOP at all.

Sideways7 01-14-04 12:37 AM

Yeah, there is synthetic 2-stroke oil. I don't know about its effects on rotaries, but I would think that since it is made to be burned, it wouldn't have the adverse effects of regular synthetics. This is just my thoughts, so don't take it as fact.

Why don't people use the search? It's been talked about since this forum was formed.
Damn, if I was a mod, I'd hit the auto delete if a question is repeated every week.

Week?
try every day.
There is at LEAST one other premix thread on this same very page.

Royal Purple makes syn.2 cycle oil. You can buy it at racing beat for like $7 a quart. They reccomend it in rotaries. I haven't seen it in stores but I haven't looked very hard either.
