2,000 RPM stutter/shudder/bucking and electircal problems.

Alright, I did some searching and nothing netted the results I was looking for. I just installed a new OEM alternator in my S4 NA last week and now I'm getting some weird little gremlins. For starters, when in neutral and I rev to 2,000 RPM, the engine sort of stutters, reminds me of a ported rotary, or something like that, I can't imagine it to be good. And when driving at 2,000 RPM the car bucks a little bit, I don't think this is good, either.

I swear I could hear it belching fire, and popping and all that fun stuff, but it idles smooth as silk, which is very confusing to me.

And I think my alternator is dead, on top of it all, I'll have to check the connectors once it cools off, but it didn't seem to be putting out any voltage. It was working up until about 30 minutes ago, and was working when the bucking problem began.

Thanks fellas.

I checked the connectors on the alternator and everything was seated well, so I guess I'll put my multimeter on the back of the alternator tomorrow.

I was just thinking, could the bucking be related to either my spark or my fuel? So maybe a fouled plug or fuel pump or filter problems?

It was the alternator.

Thanks guys.
