1st gen spark plugs on a 2nd gen?

hey so my car is pretty much destroying my ngk spark plugs alive. I called my previous owner and he said that i need to be running 1st gen spark plugs instead of the 2nd gen. i remembered that when i first changed the sparkplugs when i got the car it had 4 prongs. does anyone use fb spark plugs on there fc?

My fc came with 1st gen plugs in it. MY mechanic said alot of guys use them because theyre cheaper. I cant figure any really advantage at all, all rotary guys i know use bur7eq and bur9eqs unless they are getting into the higher hps in which case they run 9's all around or 9's and 11's

I don't know, what's the number on the fb ones? I assume they are not identical and so I don't see why running them over FC's would be beneficial.

You should spend your time wondering WHY you car is going through so many spark plugs.

well the engine and stuff were all done by the rotary doc and he was told by him to use the fb ones cause theyre better but on the site it says the modified fb's should use the fc spark plugs so its got me confused.

=\ its the previous owner so yeah i dont know. i'm not gettting the proper combustion so am i going to need like racing spark plugs then?

well uhhh 04-02-08 12:39 PM

i have a first gen and the sparkplugs are weaksauce compared to the regular 2nd gen plugs. They are cheaper for a reason. If people want cheap then buy a damn civic. some people should not own rx7's, the previous owner sounds like the moron i saved my 7 from. I wouln't worry about the plugs until you check your ign system, the plugs are not the problem. could be timing, dying coil, bad wires etc...

shadoe 04-02-08 01:09 PM

check you coils it sounda as though you're firing wrong? did you hook the right spots on the coils up to the right plugs? there's a lot of reasons this could be happening
