1990 N/A Has not been started in 2+ years
My car is a 90 N/A and as the topic states the car has not been started in over 2 years. The car was mint when it was parked other than it needs a new clutch cylinder which happened to go the day it went into storage, but due to a series of unforseen life circumstances the car has been in a garage on jack stands now for 2.5 years.
I know there is a high possibility of the motor now being seized/etc. I pray not though. I would really appreciate any advice that can be offered as I am planning on picking up a new battery for it this week and attempt to start the car up this weekend. What are the steps I should take in this case. I will bring some fresh gas for it, battery and likely change the oil prior to trying to turn it over but is there anything specific I should be looking for given the lenghty time the car has been parked. Any help would be really appreciated. Chris |
you got the new battery, thats good. try to turn the pulley's by hand, that'll help tell you if it's seized or not. before you start it, maybe put a little of oil into the sparkplug holes... just a little bit. Also, pull the EFI fuse and crank it a couple of times to build oil pressure, then replace, crank and pray! If it started fine when you put it into storage, I would feel confident that it will start with a little coaxing. Have some jumper cables ready though!
