Unhappy 1990 FC3C, n/a , manual, wiring questions around shifter, meter fuse still blowing!

Pulled cover and boot off shifter and found 3 seperate wiring " looms", 2 cut and exposed. First loom, 3 wires in insulated sleeve-red, white, black (right side of shifter). Key on , off, no volts. Fine. 2nd loom, left side of shifter, electrical tape, 3 wires-red, black, brown, all exposed. Key on, key off, 1.4 to brown, and 0.7 to red, black, nada, with key on or off.

Don't want to pull dash apart if at all possible.

Curious not only where these go, but could this have to do with my metering fuse still blowing, and it blows, only when shifting in reverse. I'm stuck, and looking at FSM, still electrically incompetent. Any help would receive one or two of the six 2 pound rib eye's going on the barbie shortly.

THANKS IN ADVANCE ALL

PEACE THE DOG

if the fuse is blowing only when you put it into reverse, I would bet $50 that the wires at the tranny have been ripped and or damaged.

If you unplug the reverse light switch on the tranny does it still happen??? This can only be accessed from under the car or under the hood, and not from inside the car.
