1988' Rx7 FC Problems
 

Hey everybody.
i am having some issues with my car. A while ago i had some trouble were my terminal cables actually came into contact with each other. As you would imagine, several things went out on my car. After it originally happened nothing worked. Gauges stopped working and the car would not turn over. i popped my hood and my main fuse had blown. i replaced it along with the egi fuse under the hood. Gauges worked and car would turn over but would not turn on. well i looked deeper into it and realized that my wire harness had taken quite a bit of damage to it. Looked even deeper and pulled off my ECU. The ecu had actually gotten damaged as well. I had to push my car to one of my buddies house and it sat there for a few weeks.
I finally got my car home and just recently replaced my wire harness and got a New N327 ECU aswell. Threw them in and nothing.
ive still got the same problem. cranks over but not starting. I checked the coils and i dont think im getting a spark.
I havent checked my fuel pump so i havent ruled that out yet.
would anyone have any ideas or maybe could lead me to the right direction to get this thing running again?

It should be rather easy to test for spark as you shouldn't have to guess one way or the other. Just pull a boot off of the coil and place the boot right up against the coil bore leaving perhaps a fraction of an inch between the two and try to start the car, if you see a flash then you have spark and if you don't then you don't have spark. Also w/key to on make sure the B/Y wires at the coils have 12 volts. There's one Black/Yellow wire at the lead coil and two at the trailing coil. And you also different harnesses in the engine bay. There's the Engine, Front, and Emission harness.

There is no spark. I dont have a voltimeter at the moment but i pulled the spark plug wire and put a screwdriver next to it and cranked it. im not getting any spark though.
i changed the harness that connects the starter, alternator, battery terminals ect.

When you get your hands on a meter check the B/Y wire as suggested. If you don't have voltage then check the 15 amp Engine fuse located in the interior fusebox.

By all means listen to what satch says. He knows what he's talking about. Helped me find the AFM was broken which won't allow the car to give spark. Man knows his stuff

Alright well i got my car up and running! i checked all my wiring and cleaned up some grounds and that did it!! :D

But now i have another problem!!!

My car in first gear at high rpm's feels like it gets held back?
around 4.5 RPM?
Anyone have any idea?
