Tranny help

i have a question about my manual transmittion. THis housing that the shifter pops into has a pin on the actual thing the shifer pops into. In order to pop the pin out i removed the plate on the back site. Its held on by two bolts. When i did this a spring and a bearing popped out. There is also a spring going laterally from th hole where the spring, bearing, and sleeve were removed. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how this section with the spring, bearing and sleeve go back together.

There should be 3 parts that go where the plate w/2 bolts: a spring (long), a bearing, and a cylindrical piece with a couple flat grooves cut from the side and a small hole at the top (it's hollow as well). We'll call this assembly 1.

Next, the lateral portion you mentioned is also 3 parts (including the big bolt at the rear): Hollow bolt, small spring, bearing. We'll call this assembly 2.

For assembly 1, first insert the cylindrical piece. Insert it so that the grooves in the side are facing to the rear (the flat grooves should line up with the hole that assembly 2 goes into). once that's in, put the bearing up inside of it and then the spring. You can put the cover back on at this point.

For assembly 2, slide the bearing into the hole first. Then put the spring inside the hollow bolt and screw it in.

That should be it. parts should be screwed in all the way and the shifter should still be able to move side to side.

Hope that helps...see links above for more info
