I bought this car from a used car dealer in Springfield, IL back in 2001 after my 84GS was rear ended and totalled. It had one owner before me who left me manilla envelope with lots of the original paperwork.

I am currently in the process of bringing it back to life but with 3 kids under 10 it's taking some time. Phase 1 is getting it back on the road. Phase 2 is making it look pretty again.

Tim, the car looks to be in great shape overall. Did the engine fail or did you just want to refresh it? How many miles are on the car? The markup on the car was pretty crazy. Charging $395 for a pdi...a pdi is a pre delivery inspection and its required to be done on all new cars. Its funny that they marked it as an add on. The only piece of your paperwork that I don't recognize is the little grey check book looking thing. What is that? I've never seen one.

The car sat for about 10 years in a storage and, even though it still spun freely, I didn't want to risk anything. Good thing I decided to pull it apart as my irons had started to pit pretty bad. I also found that one of my rotors was out of tolerance in the apex seal groove. That is actually what I'm trying to find now so that I can get the rebuild going. If you happen to have any leads on a good used S4 T2 rotor I would be very appreciative. I've been trying to find one on the marketplace here and elsewhere with no luck so far.

The car has 135k miles on the body as I went through one engine replacement already. The small grey check book is a first aid kit. It still boggles my mind that this car sold for $28k back in 1988. I honestly don't have grandiose plans for this car as I'm really just making it safe to use the racing beat full exhaust I got for it when it was still my daily driver.

Mark's FC has been in my ownership since his passing. I suppose I should have updated this thread sooner.

I've owned 0623856 for a little over a year now.
The poor thing is really beat up and hardly wants to run. Based on the history of the car I know of so far, it wasn't treated real well and that can be seen on the car. So many quick-"fixes" have been added to the car over the years practically everything mechanical needs replaced/refurbished, and both interior and exterior trim are missing pieces. It's even missing the VIN plaque from the dash. I doubt I'd personally ever be able to restore the car. The one thing that's doing alright is the engine itself, with mostly over 100 compression numbers across the board, thanks to jackhild, except in one chamber where it drops into 80s. It had an S5 turbo on it when I got it, so I'm sure that had something to do with it.

The list has missed a couple previous owners so far but I was able to find some info on history of it, at least from '08 onwards.

I am trying to find out what number out of 1500 my 10AE is. How can I find that out with the Vin? (for the record I am inheriting it from my cousin.)

There's no way to tell exactly what number out if 1500 you have. The vin number will let you know where the car falls in production. Most were built in 3/88 but none were assigned an exact number.

Was owned by me. Sold it.. quite a few years ago. Like 15 or 20 ago.
Things about it....
It was painted before I got her EMERALD GREEN.. and it was a crappy paint job.. thick. Lot of metal flake.
I got it it after it had a engine fire. Leaking injector the woman didnt care.. it caught fire. Her neighbor a fire fighter put it out.
I got it for 500 bucks. A year or so later I got another TII that was crashed and salvaged a slew of engine plastic and aluminum and put her back on the road.
Did a lot of Chin Motorsport events late 90s. Was a joy to drive.
Didnt have original seats when I got it. I still have the back hatch.
Guy I sold it to was... going through some shit. Lets say. He decided to sand HALF the car to bare metal and clear it.. which he never did as far as I know.
I had installed a fleabay turbo, front mount and wolf 3d in it and it was running and still green last I saw it.
I heard it was half sanded.. and then nothing happened to it for a year or two.
John Grewe I think saw it once.. as someone brought it to him to be worked on.

Unsure of its condition or status.

Found this thread looking for info on the 56k mile 10AE that I got from my mom. She has had it since new. It was a wedding gift from my stepdad. She got it when she was 45 and gave it to me when she was 71. I have put 60 miles on it since I got it. Love the car but I’m too old for it also.
