1987 turbo II transmission reverse problem

my 1987 rx7 fc turbo just put in a EXEDY stage 1 clutch kit and aluminum flywheel from racingbeat had a guy install it and now it is having a problem going into reverse from idle it will grind in unless i slip it into 1st then to reverse i guess to slow down the rotation of the gear, why does this happen?

also it will crank with out the clutch being depressed...

HELP!!!!

Clutch isn't bled properly, the fork is bent, or too much clutch pedal free play. The clutch switch is also either stuck down or bypassed.

or the clutch just needs to be driven on.

and with these cars it is a good idea to run into 1st then into reverse anyways, even on fully functioning cars the reverse will grind unless everything is perfect.

its second nature now in my car to go 1st to reverse, after the first day of driving it i noticed it would grind sometimes. not that big of a deal to go 1st to reverse ;) but it may also be worth making sure its in there right also.

well barely any free play in the clutch i feel it has to be completely depressed to the floor to remove it from gear and barely release the pedal to engage the gear maybe cause its new, and i would hope the guy would have inspected the fork too, clutch could maybe be bled again i would have thought the mechanic would have re bled the system

its good to know this though i thought it would have been my transmission i was starting to look at rebuilding or replacing it, and i guess i need to find that clutch switch

sounds like air in the system then

the racing clutches are supposed to be harder but not that low of an engagement with the clutch right?
