1987 to 1990

can i fit my 87 internal to a 90 shell...everyone please be brutally honest...dont want o buy shell then find ou they dont fit

Boosted11 12-10-07 07:46 PM

If you mean 87 motor then yes it would fit, but some modifications required.

fcer 12-10-07 07:49 PM

mods like waht /...would other things fit like tranny axles etc..

Boosted11 12-10-07 07:54 PM

I think I'll have to leave the more detailed information for the pro's. Everything should fit. Is the shell naked? If it has absolutely nothing on it and you have all the gear to put into it, then you should be fine.

do you know where or who i can ask to make sure i tried my mech but he didnt know...

clokker 12-10-07 09:13 PM

All the mechanical stuff- suspension, motor, transmission, diff, etc. will bolt in.

vipers 12-10-07 09:18 PM

ok... well, ive actually done this before........so if you can give more details on what you mean......

basically, an s4 engine will bolt into an s5 chassis..... BUT, the wiring is all different...as well as many parts between the 2 series (ie, mechanical omp vs. electric, no egr on block, dual tps sensors) so if i know exactly what your wanting to do, i can give you the exact answer your looking for

fcer 12-11-07 12:17 AM

will move ALL internals from a 87 to a 88 or a 90 by internals i meen eninge tranny all manifolds etc etc not seats and rugs

dumbkid 12-11-07 12:32 AM

everything will bolt up. wiring harness and ecu will need to be from the 87 and probably the coils aswell as a few other things. only worth it if you have a parts car i would say.

Yes, just like the other thread you started on the same issue, if it is jsut a shell everything will swap. You will need to swap all you can however, if you go with an s4 engine use an s4 ECU, unless you have a modified harness (does anyone make s4 Engine => s5 ECU harnesses? Doesn't the s5 ECU need to see the elec OMP?) , you may have to swap the drivetrain as well. Search.
