damn... that thing has better rollover clearance than my mom's cherokee with a 2" lift

NOPR 03-17-05 05:35 PM

18 is HUUGGEEEEE. go with 16 or 17. 18 isnt good for anything, it just messes up your handling, theres a whole thread on it somewhere. probably like 10 threads on it actually.

8" wide fronts, I'd like to shoot for a +30 offset.
9" wide rears, I'd like to shoot for a +25 offset.

Have you checked the sidewall height on a 225/35/18??? Its like 2.9 inches....

Most of those tires have a circumference of about 23.8 inches... Which is a full inch less than stock....

I started thinking about it, and thats just not enough rubber for me...

You do what you want, but i live in the land of potholes....

I have 245's on the rear +40 offset... Ted's numbers ARE Valid because he knows he's dealing with goons that are going to put retardedly large tires on the ass, in which case you need the extra clearance to the swingarm.. BUT you want to keep the tires as close as possible to being on center with the fronts...

The other problem is finding wheels in those offsets..

Bottom line, if you keep your head about it, and run a 245 or even 255 tire in the rear... you can run +30 on the front and Back, and thus have your tires on center front to rear.

Not this 2nd gen. It all depends on the wheel and proper fitment.

what do 225s look like on the FC? I know its been posted a gazillion times before, but now I actually care ;) Someone throw up an image of their car or somethin, I want to see how wide those are compared to stock.

DC350 03-18-05 10:58 AM

i had 18" RacingHarts on my FC, and they are not too big. But also they were only 7.5" wide. For handling it was the best, i had 215/40/18 front and 235/35/18 on back with ground control coilovers,KYB agx's and racing beat links, it handled like on rails. I autocrossed it and beat a v-8 miata on slicks by 1 second.

....but i forget the offset :-/, i bought them off an Mr2

17's and 18's are fine as long as they are LIGHT WEIGHT rims. I see guys slapping on 17 generic rims cause they think it looks cool but doesn't look into what they weigh. You have any idea how much they slow the car down? Try using the stock rims versus your new bling 17 or 18" generic rims and run the 1/4 mile. As some might believe, ADR is NOT a light weight quality wheel. Most cheap wheels are gravity cast rather than forged or semi solid forged.
You see those Hondas /Integras slapping on 18's and even 19s cause it looks cool but I bet they don't think about it's weight. And they wonder why their POS are so slow.

Oh, have you priced *decent* 18" tires ?? HA!

dame bro chill i got 18's on fc and im happy ass hell with them. and tires i could get falken and continentals for $380-420 new so do your research . my friend with the first gen spent 270 on 13's so pretty much there cheap.

i know 18's weigh thats if you got cheap shit . like ive tested my 18's with the rx-8's stock wheels and there pretty close in weight. also the tires have to do with the weight if you get a runflate tire or a tire with a 2plie side wall instead of a 1 plie but ill stick with the 2plie so the tires wont rool under the rims on a hard turn
