13b-re swap ?

hey everyone. i have been building a S4 13bt up for a while now and i just found out i can get a 13b-re for a decent price and locally. im on here asking what should i need for the swap besides the mounts and the motor. here is what i already have for my car right now;

greddy front mount with all piping and rs blow off
hks maifold
rb steel lightweight flywheel
act 6 puck
microtec with harness already made
new plugs and wires
shineauto sexy hood
garret TO4 with 60-1 just rebuilt
custom primary and secondary fuel rails with -6 fittings
fd alt (not sure if this matters with this swap)
koyo 3 row with taurus e-fan
two 720 cc and two 1600 cc injectors
hks turbo timers

and maybe a couple of other things i cant think about. let me know what you think. thanks in advance

you should be able to use everything, except the intercooler piping will need to be altered a bit at the intake.

Is the fuelrail from the s4 the same as the RE?

No, the RE has top feed secondaries with sidefeed primaries. The S4, S5, and FD fuel rails will not fit on an RE.

Sindregutt 02-28-07 06:03 AM

Okey, then ill go with a custom setup on both the rails. But do you know if its space enaugh for topfeed on the primaries on the RE?

BlueTII 02-28-07 06:05 AM

With custom rails you can install the top feed primaries. You will also need custom oil cooler lines, we will have those available on our site in about a week.

FC3S_nataku 02-28-07 10:55 AM

well if the secondaries are top feed the my secondaries fuel rail will fit. and for the oil cool lines i think they should fit with little fuss. im getting this info from the fc3spro web site.

hey one more thing. is the 13b-re motor have a mech omp or is it like the S5 electric omp?

FC3S_nataku 03-01-07 01:51 AM

really now, anyone with info?

Funkspectrum 03-01-07 01:53 AM

I believe it's the electric OMP...

BlueTII 03-01-07 04:53 AM

The oil cooler return line mounts at the filter pedestal, the stock line will not work. You FC rail will not bolt to the RE block. It has an electronic oil metering pump.

FC3S_nataku 03-01-07 11:22 AM

ok,can my microtec control the electric omp?

BlueTII 03-01-07 11:48 AM

No.

FC3S_nataku 03-01-07 12:12 PM

what about with a power fc?

FC3S_nataku 03-01-07 11:28 PM

or is there any way that i can swap the front cover of a s4 with the mech omp onto the 13b-re?

BklynRX7 03-01-07 11:47 PM

If my memory serves me the 13b-re front cover is identical to the s5 so you should be able to swap it with the s4, or you can run premix. I think the biggest issue youll have is the fuel setup and picking a turbo, running the stock twins requires some extra fabricationive heard. I had a s5 turbo on mine but I would suggest something bigger :)

FC3S_nataku 03-02-07 01:24 AM

yeah i want to run pre mix but i still want the omp working for me to. and for the turbo i have a garret to4 with a 60-1. not the biggest turbo but streetable.

FC3S_nataku 03-03-07 02:51 AM

can i please have an answer on this.

Sindregutt 03-05-07 02:28 PM

Does the stock s4 injectors fit the primary holes in the 13bRE intermediate iron? I test fitted one, but not sure if it fits :P

FC3S_nataku 03-06-07 02:12 AM

im not to sure about that, im still trying to figure out if i can swap a s4 turbo 2 front cover with mech omp onto the re

RETed 03-06-07 04:45 AM

You should be able to fit the front cover, yes.
I would worry about fitting the Cosmo water pump housing back on - hell, you might as well go all S4 water pump housing and water pump anyways?
Easier to get parts, since it's next to impossible to find Cosmo Mazda OEM replacements in the USA? :)

why do you want omp and premix? just run premix and simplify things for yourself. 2-cycle oil also burns alot cleaner than engine oil. since engine oil is not meant to be burnt, it is for lubrication. where as 2-cycle oil is meant to burn as well as lube things.

Sindregutt 03-06-07 10:05 AM

yeah, hte s4 frontcover and waterpump fits perfect on the re engine. i see no point in NOT using those parts.. As RETed said, its mutch easier to find parts for the s4 engine..
Im still unsure if the injectors fit thought, maybe i only need one more seal? hmm

I read a few write-ups for a 13b-RE swap...the ones I read said that you really need the ECU and ignition stuff from a compatible FD3S to get all the subsystems (seq. tt, omp's and the like) to work. From what I read also, you can use a microtek/haltek in conjunction with the FC3S ignition stuff (coil(s) with igniter(s)) to get it actually running, but I believe you still need the FD3S ECU/wiring harness.

FC3S_nataku 03-06-07 11:12 AM

cool thanks guys. im not worried about the waterpump housing and water pump. i have a s4 t2 engine waiting to dontate if i can swap the omp to the re engine :)
