Where can methanol be obtained anyways?

Front mount is not the end all great solution either. Going FMIC will solve the charge air temp problem, but bring about it's own set of issues.
I've run 12 psi all summer long on a top mount with modded 2.5" inlet, on 91 octane gas no alcohol. 17 psi with 20% meth. This with T66 turbo and half bridgeport. Of course the intake temps on sustained pulls are terrible(the higher the boost the worse it gets, and yes this does result in lost power), but they quickly drop once you are done. However, my coolant temps never get out of hand. High oil/coolant temps can lead to detonation as well. |
You can get meth at some Sunoco's, but its usually only larger cities that have these, I think.

Mainly high oil and coolant temps due to blocked airflow. Also potentially the need to cut up the car, much more/heavier piping. Piping can obstruct access to certain parts of engine bay.
Fmic is great for drag racing, but road racing you can run into heating problems quickly. A v-mount is really ideal for this. I'm just trying to say there's no single optimal solution for all cases, you just have to look at your goals for the car, and then decide. |
