Arrow '10th Anniversary Restoration Progress /w pics

Purchased salvaged with PD fire. Was sitting for 6 months until sold at auction. Otherwise, excellent body/mostly good paint and great interior. 120K miles on it and totally stock. Thought I would just fix what was burned and get it running but few things led to another and now, my budget for this car has increased. Practically everything under the hood will be replaced and will look like brand new. Goal for now is just a large streetport and have it smog legal (mandatory that DMV checks it out.) Then the fun begins after its smogged...

Currently in progress:

Rebuild spare TII engine /w Judge Ito streetport template
Remove old engine after spare engine is finished
Repaint engine bay after engine is removed
Install new engine

When I got the car (should have washed it before I brought it in)

Ugly engine bay

Closer look, the damage

Love my interior... S5 leather door panels, seats, rear hatch cover

The car as it is now...

More pics to follow later.

Thanks guys. I'll keep updating every now and then when I have the time.

Spare engine opened up. Notice corner seal "rubber" plugs missing!

Rear stationary gear, chipped/jagged teeth, no longer useable

I plan on restoring AEs one day... when I'm out of college... when I have money... when I have a big enough garage. You get the idea.

Good job Dan. I have seen what the engine bay looked like with the PD fire and it was alot worse than in the pictures. Good luck on the project!

I don't believe those are the original seats, should have attached headrests. But it's still nice. Good luck with the project. I actually just picked up a 10th AE project last weekend myself, and it's in a lot worse shape than yours.

Yeah, the original seats are ripped and torn. When I find some regular mint TII leather seats, I'll replace it.

Is it common for the paint to peel off from the primer cause mine is starting to.

I got my 10ae for 2700$ and its number 128 out of 1500. I guess you could find a pair of seats and get the leather reworked on them. My drivers seat leather is cracking and passenger is mint.

Yeah, the 10th AE is notorious for having peeling paint. You can see it is peeling a bit in the lower section of my door. But I'll have that lower portion painted. Thankfully, this AE actually has decent paint.

Glad to see the project finally going, let me know if you need any help yanking parts, or holding something while you pull the engine. Or if you want me to keep an eye out for parts at the pick n pull.

How do you know what number out of 1500 it is? I've had two AEs and wasn't aware they were individually numbered.

Mazdaformance has a new passengers side black seat in stock last I checked (I was considering buying it for my 10thAE that I am restoring, but decided to go aftermarket leather),
