10th ae Turbo manifold question

Ive owned several NA cars, but this is my first turbo. Its my understanding that its a common problem for the manifold on a turbo to crack. After tearing my engine down the other day to rebulid I noticed one crack starting at the flange where the turbo is mounted. Also ( i dont know what its called) the flap just below the flange has a lot of play where its revited to the shaft. It seems to cause this flap to bind up not allowing it to open and close correctly. Is there anyway to repair this? Also, does anyone think I should replace the manifold altogether?

The cracks are normal but it would really help to have a picture. Then we could tell you if you need to replace the manifold.

It's also normal for there to be a lot of play in the twin scroll flapper. The actuator keeps pressure on the lever so it should not bind when it's in use.

S4 manifold cracks are a fact of life. As long as the crack doesnt allow gasses to escape, you should be okay. As far as the twin scroll flap, it should move somehwhat freely.

Ill get a pic up tomorrow, from what I have read on the forum it sounds like it might not be that big of a problem. It Dosent appear to be leaking through the crack.

Thanks
