10th AE have buil in radar?

Just wondering, I'm looking at an auction here with an all original all stock 10th Anniversary RX-7 with only 30k original miles. Then it says it has a built in radar, did the car realy have a built in radar?

Built-in radar what? Radar scope, radar gun, radar detector, heh. Most likely a built-in radar detector means one mounted to the dash. :p:

That said, there are very high end radar detector systems that can be installed in a car and be virtually undetectable and give very good warnings.

Most likely though this is just something to get you to buy the car. To my knowledge the 10 AEs never came with any built-in radar detection systems.

I saw that auction and was wondering myself. It does look old enough though :p:

Radar detector :)

Was just wondering because the ad said all original and no mods. Doesnt a built in detector count as a mod? Heres a picture:

Heh, that looks like a detector out of one of my buddie's old muscle car magazines (circa like 1983 or something). ;)

the 10th AE have built in radar (movment) sensors for the stock alarm. mounted on the rear pillars.

that is definatly an aftermarket unit!

Yea look at the glue holding it on.

As covered before, and Scott is the nearest to the truth, the 10th AE came with ultrasonic sensors that senses movement inside the vehicle when the security system is armed.

The draw back is if you leave the windows or sunroof open, the sensors has a tendency to false trigger.

The Ultra sonic sensors were the grandfather to the modern Proximity (sometimes in-accurately called Radar) sensors.

could have been a dealer option. that would make him think it's stock, anyway.

For what it is worth I bought a radar detector from a swap meet and the guy told me it came from a mazda RX7. It does in fact have Mazda imprinted on the faceplate (Small unit about 5 inches wide with On Off Hwy City switches/lights) as well as "K40 Sprint" printed on the under hood remote transmitter(receiver). This does appear to have been actually installed in some year RX7. Hope this helps

Ah, thanks for all of the replys, guys.

I turn 16 in a month and have been looking for a car when I stumbled upon this gem.

Imagine my surprise when my dad asked if they offer financing. We're calling the insurance company tomorrow to check rates, if it isn't too high my dad said he would place a bid and help me pay for it. The dealer that is selling the car seams like a very reputable one (deals Ferraris, Porsches, NSXs, Vipers, etc). With only 30k miles this seems like a once in a lifetime find.
