10 - 11 second 1/4 mile on stock top mount

Hey Guys

I feel stupid asking this question but my friend and I are having a debate about running 10 to 11 second 1/4 mile times on the stock top mount. I believe its possible given the right turbo combination. He thinks Im crazy and that its not possible. Anyone out there doing this?

don't u need the front mount if u want to run more boost on another turbo?

With the correct amount of money anything is possible:). With enough weight reduced, good suspension to hook up just right, the correct gearing, and lots of boost and gas. I would say 11’s would be possible. But using a front mount or a liquid to air top mount might be easier ;).

Ben Marr ran a deep 11 on a stock mount IC...

BDC runs a stock IC core, for his air/water IC.

I have read rumors of guys in PR running stock IC's turning some sick times...no proof to back it up though.

I went from A2W stock top-mount core to a regular top-mount core and my air intake temps were through the roof (hit the limit of 273F degrees on my air temp sensor) when I was running 15psi of boost. I don't recommend it.

Sure.... Just run methanol instead of gasoline. You can run 8s with no intercooler :)

The only way you could run 10's-11's with the stock top mount is if you could run a max of 12psi of boost. And the reason for this is that the top mount is only designed for 8-9psi worth of boost anything over this and it becomes extremly inefficient. The intake temps would start going extremly high, so it would be suicide to run it with the top mount.
In order to get your car to the 11 or possibly 10 second mark youd have to spend about 10 grand. And that would include upgrading the intercooler so there is no need for a stock top mount.

I'm sure it's possible, but you'd need to tune to suit the high intake temps (i.e. rich), and you'd still be risking detonation. So basically you have an inherently unreliable set-up

The question is not whether you can, it's they the hell would you bother?

would it be safe if you were running a form of water injection? Or would the heating effects still overcome the innercooler.

YUP!
Theres no other way. You really have to toss the stock top mount to run those kinds of numbers. It just sounds like this person wants to keep the TII hood functional!
