02 sensor wire; shielded or non-shielded?
 

subject about says it; is the wire for the 02 sensor the shielded type or not? I'v bought a replacement Bosch universal piece and I want to be careful when I cut the wire since I don't have any spare.

The wiring on the car is shielded. I can't vouch for Robert Bosch. If I remember right, Bosch sensor was not shielded.

Just make sure that the shielded wires do not contact the center conductor when you mate the two. You know that but what if. I suppose since its millivolts that are the output of the o2 sensor, then they are worried about emi from ???? something. I know everyone says they are shielded. I'm not disputing their information but i'll be damned if I could find any shielding on mine when I changed it. Mine is an '87 TII.

Not to be argumenative, but the o2 sensor and the knock sensor in a turboii should have been shielded wires. On my 87turboii they both are. They are both have a grey jacket and are shielded wires, and when I spliced the forty something wires at the engine I remember having to figure out which was which. I'm almost positive that the Bosch aftermarket sensor is not shielded. Too lazy to go walk fifty feet this nite and look. The schematic Bb-2 is trying is darn best to show that both are shieled. See the dotted line running adjacent to the 02 and knock sensor wires? That is supposed to represent the shield going to ground.
