Around here, the solution for snow and ice is to dump salt all over the road, which then causes rust.

I thought the road salts makes it rust. Isn't how they de-ice the roads?

Driving like normal when it was raining.... but it was the first rain and oily - very busy used all day and nigh road w/50mph limit, 2 lanes

The seven did about 8 spins and slapped a pole... pole won.

The poles always win. When is somebody gonna develop the "anti-pole" mod?

It's the DTSS. Which prevents snap oversteer. Except when broken it magnifies the problem. I found out the scary way that mine's fine, unlike the one in my former car which was not... that's why it's my former car. At least that's my guess. It spun twice before the accident but without crashing those times. The third time OTOH it landed upside-down. Anyway IIRC if you can manually turn your rear wheels to the side when the car's rear is lifted off the ground then it's time to get rid of your broken DTSS and live without it.

I just spent half a day reading these stories and have been cracking up. It's amazing how many of these things I may have done myself and not even known it. Great stuff.

Hahah stumbled on this goldmine and had to put in my $0.02.
About a year ago, before I rebuilt my engine, I was trying to figure out why it wouldn't start [blown rear rotor]. I had been doing various things to try and get it to start, but nothing was working. Got a little frustrated so I decided to pack her all up and go for a smoke.
I locked up the car, set down my keys on the driver shock tower topull out some tools, and shut the hood. Forgot my keys.
I spent three hours outside my house trying to break into my car to pop the hood. I'm not half bad at this usually because I have worked at gas stations and got kinda used to opening peoples' cars when they lock up their keys. Anyway, I end up almost getting arrested because a cop lived in my neighbourhood and saw me trying to do this passing my house on his way home. So I was pissed at this point. Thought about the cable to the release. Finally got my arm up under the front bumper far enough to grab'n' ****** the cable, releasing my hood, my keys, and much steam from my ears.

I locked my keys in the car at rotorfest this year....A couple guys told me you take your license plate and slide it between the window glass and the door and it'll pop the lock when you hit the mechanism....it worked. scary how easy it is to get in..

^^^^^If somebody wants into your car, they'll get in there. Period. However, info like that isn't something I'd want passed around the internet, even if it's not entirely accurate.

Here's one of my stories, it was a while ago. Typical early morning going to work, I go out to warm my FC while still being half a sleep. I didn't notice it was in gear, I only put half my body just to turn it on so as soon as I let go of the clutch with my right foot the car jumps forward and hits the garage door. No damage to my bumper but the thin aluminum door was bent. I had the neutral switch bypassed when I swaped my jspec trans.

Lol when my father and I rebuilt my engine this summer he couldn't, for the life of him, figure out what the "vacuum source" that comes out of the middle iron is for... It was the tube for the dipstick lololol. I will never let him forget that one!

I'll never live both of these moments down.

When I bought my first ever FC, I went in to check the oil..... I could not for the life of me find the dipstick. I even went as far as making a thread on here asking where it was. After digging around and looking for over an hour, I found it hidden under some cables and lines with no yellow handle for the finger to go through. It was right in front of me the entire time.

Second incident was when I was home for fall break recently and went to do some maintenance on my current FC. I went to turn the car on, but she wouldn't crank. First thing that I notice was that it sounded like it had really low compression. My immediate reaction is that the motor blew. Looking around and checked the plugs, they were barely screwed on. (Thank goodness!)

Engine is fine now.
You are one lucky guy. I once knew someone who had a 12a, they installed a racing beat intake and carb but forgot about the rags shoved in the intake ports of the engine. They started the engine and GULP! Rag ingested and locked the engine. I got the engine for free, tore it down and had MINT housings...i regret selling them stupid cheap!

I guess i should add one of my own which was not to long ago. Did a full tune up on my vert, added a racing beat foam air filter that goes in the stock intake box.(they stopped selling these)

One day i floored it out of a gas station and around 5k the car fell on its face and was acting like limp mode sort of. I got it home and ran codes...TPS sensor..okay i'll replace it! Replaced it and no change. I randomly decided to pull my intake off and change the afm just to find i installed the airfilter upside down and it fell apart and got sucked into the afm and was clogging it. I was happy to find the problem and upset i wrecked a brand new air filter that you can no longer buy.

Glad to say in all my years i really haven't done that much stupid stuff. *knocks on wood*

Hahahaha ive done the dipstick thing before. Took me like 15 minutes. Strangely enough mine DOES have the yellow handle, so i felt especially smart for that.

I'll play along hehe. My first motor swap was prolly 4 months after picking up my first FC in 2010. The new SP N/A had no oil metering system. And i had heard about adding oil to the gas or "premixing" in rotaries. Sooo, since the motor used motor oil to supply the oil injectors, i figured what the heck, ill throw some motor oil in the gas tank. "Premixing" haha. Pulled up to my mechanics house so he could check out my new motor. When he asked if i was premixing i said. O ya. Then he asked what premix i was running and i hit him with " just some 20-50"...O man did his eyes get big. He was like, uhh your killing your engine right now, your suppose to use 2 stroke premix, not motor oil....so he had to mix me up 5oz of premix in a gal can and dumped it in car. Could have been a costly mistake. But thinking back on it now, what a dummy! Damn rotaries, making your average joe mechanic look stupid since 1957 lol.
