@ around 120mph the wipers fly up!!..help

hey guys...
quick question for ya...
when im on the interstate and im flying.....
the wipers start "scooting" away from the home position....its really annoying......does this happen to anyone else??
are there any ways to fix this? maybe new wiper arms...or something...
this usually only happens at around 120mph as the thread title says....its bad going that fast and having the damn arms hanging out all over the windshield...

and i dont want to hear about the easy fix of just not going that fast because comeon......i own an rx-7....thats the same as having a license to speed....
sorta....

until the cops get ya...

well mine don't do that but they do loos contact with the glass when I am using them and I am going above 75. I don't get to 120 a lot anymore but I would guess there is something wrong with the spring that holds them on tight. do you have any spares? Possible they are not on tight enough.

check to make sure the nuts that hold the arms to the motor assembly linkage are tight.

If they are then check for play in the motor assembly linkages themsleves.

In worst case if they are just lifting from the window at speed as 1987RX7guy says, replace the wiper arms as the springs inside are streched or worn out.

take the blades off when you're going retardedly fast? :)

I can't see you needing to go that fast IN THE RAIN, so that should solve your problem.

you could actually take them off alltogether, buy some rain-x. It works wonders :)

At least you don't have the problem my fiero did: When I was going 90+MPH sometimes a piece of rubber from the windshield seal would fly off and go THUMP and wack the side window, it scared the shit outta me the first time it happened!

cool....thanks guys

by the way.... im not worried about the wipers when its raining...i dont speed when its raining anyway....this happens when im not using them.....im going to replace them though i suppose.....i use rain-x as it is because my wipers only work at the medium level.....

need to get a new switch

It's not that good...you still need your wipers for anything more than a heavy sprinkle.

i had the same problem - your wipers are not set to the 'off' position (should be one click up from bottom)
when they are in the off position the motor is engaged and locks them in place

I find that it's the reverse! I put rain-x on my car, and it was only in a heavy rain that it worked well. A light sprinkle wouldn't let the water beads roll off. They'd just kinda stick there.

You can also try those little "aerofoils" that people stick to the wiper arms. It is supposed to catch the wind and press the wipers against the glass. Hey, they are stock on Diablos. :)
