***EATIN GASSSSSS?searchedddd***
i think my car is running really rich, seeing as i only get 247 miles to a full tank. which comes out to be around 16 miles to the gallon. and you can smell the gas in the exaust baddddd. what would be the solution to this?

Im jellous of your fuel mileage.
check your O2 sensor fuel filter coolant temp sensor Air filter? as for smelling gas... hows your cat? 247 MILES to a tank? I dont thik thats so bad... Most likely it may just need a tuneup. |

have you done the proper tune up? there's really only standalone after that.

THERE IS NO SOLUTION!!!!! the only answer to all your questions is that your car is a RX-7. most people on here aren't getting as much as you do. 16 mpg is pretty damn good considering it was rated at 17 mpg street when the car was brand new. if you want better gas mileage, get a honda, but if you want to keep your 7, then that's expect really shitty mileage. if your car is N/A and you want to Turbo it, be aware that you will probably get around 9-11 mpg on average running on 91 octane (which is about $4 a gallon now). you gotta pay the cost to be the boss.[/QUOTE]

well there are many things you can do. check all the stuff that ajhehr said plus your wheel bearings, make sure there good. good alignment, ebrakes not sticking or the rest of the brakes for that matter. basic tune up stuff, like plugs and wires, check your injectors, gas lines, make sure your not loosing any gas along any parts of the fuel return. but truth be told what all the others said is true...its an rx7. "smoke em if you got em"
|
what do i look for when i check the injectors. cos at around 4000 i feel a lag of power.

"The dreaded 3800 RPM hesitation is cause 90% of the time by poor ground connections between the engine, the battery, and the car. Clean or replace all the under hood ground connections. On 86 model year cars , replacing/regrounding the pressure sensor's ground wire has helped (do not re-ground a 87 or later model year). If there is still a problem after that, look at cleaning the fuel injectors and (on a N/A) that your 5th/6th ports are operating correctly." got that from the faq. |
