why is it that most fc "low fuel" light dont work???
 

is it cause the bulb blew out or wiring problems??? :scratch:

i have never seen a working one either.

mine works.

Mine worked, fuel gauge didn't though.

^ ha i was thinking the same thing, i dont think its to good for the engine to drive it on e too long might pick up particles from the bottom of the tank..

My s4 is creepy. It like fades in and out when it comes on. Never seen it lit on the s5 though except for when you start the car.

mine didnt work, but the sender unit was bad and i was too cheap to replace it. it read low when it was half empty.........fucking thing

ive ran out of gas when i first bought my 7, thinking to myself, hey the light isnt on yet i can make it!! lol oh how wrong i was.... lesson learned, when its about to touch the bottom line, GET GAS!!!!! lol

Its a talibon conspiracy. The moment you run out of gas you will be struck by a suicidal Honda.

But it's a flawed conspiracy since a Honda can't go fast enough to cause any significant damage.

Sidenote, low fuel sender failure seems to be more a problem with S5's than S4's.

If you connect the W/R wire on the sending unit harness to ground the low fuel idiot light should come on.

Mine comes on when the parking brake is pulled up :scratch:.

i owned 7 fcs and none of the lights worked for fuel hahahah

+1 And also the fuel pump is kept cool by fuel in the tank.

My low fuel light works surprisingly. I didn't notice it worked for a long time till one day i actually ran it low on fuel. I try and stay above a 1/4 tank.

mine works too but I never see it go off (rarely below 1/3 of a tank)

mine works most of the time. every now and then it wont come on and it will almost be touching the line. i think it has something to do with a loose connection between the idiot light cluster and its harness cause my clock will work for days till i hit a bump.

Sorry to Hyjack the thread but wouldn't this be an issue all the time? I'm under impression that the fuel pick up is at the bottom of the tank... so, wouldn't it be sucking fuel from the bottom of the tank (and thus the crap down there too) all the time? I would think the bigger issue is that running on low all the time would cause cooling issues with the pump not being immersed in fuel.

Wrong. Two separate circuits.

Cold solder joints in the circuit board is the reason the clock does what it does. Common 2nd Gen issue, easy fix.

:lol: I would put it at the bottom too but since I've never been in my 2nd Gen's fuel tank to tell you exactly where it is so I just posted it as an assumption. I'd hate to state that it is on the bottom and have you correct me because it's actually 0.453" off the bottom.

But back to the real question... The only reason I can think of that you would say it is more likely that you will pick up debris on a low tank because the debris to gas ratio is higer (more PPM debris per volume of fuel).

i appreciate the advice but - you dont think ive read the faq huh? i know about the cold solder joints. ive already taken it apart and repaired all the solder joints, and even tried swapping the idiot cluster out of my parts car. i know my own car, and when i hit bumps (or tap right above the idiot cluster) that happens. so if its not the idiot cluster, what else can it be? well lets see... the only plug on the back of it.

i would think that this is the case as well. it wouldnt make sense to suck up the fuel from the top... but im not sure about this

On my 87 it worked intermittently. Then stopped working altogether.

On my 90 it worked fine.

On my two most recent cars (which i road race) i have no idea if they worked because i never run the tank below about 1/3rd or they fuel starve.

mine works ¬_¬ but I rarely see it coming on, because I usually fill it up at half tank

I usually fill up when I get to 333 miles a tank. :P
